I have a copy of Christy Moore's bio 'One Voice'. It has most of his lyrics but not 'How Long'

The book is out in papeback published by Hodder & Sloughton ISBN 0 340 83073 5

i borrowed the one voice book a short time ago, twas good.

i see that christymoore.net is now a crappy search thing. a disgrace.

i can only assume how long wasnt included because the album was released after the book was published, or summat.

i may just do the lyrics myself by listening, but if christymoore.com put up guitar tabs / chords... that would be one of the greatest things ever

Christy Moore's recording of HOW LONG is on his album "This Is the Day," Columbia LP #503255.2, 2001.

According to Allmusic.com, "Jackson Browe" (sic) wrote it. I assume that's a typo for "Jackson Browne."

Indeed, Jackson Browne wrote and recorded a song called HOW LONG. It is on his album "World in Motion," Elektra LP 50, 1989.

The lyrics have been posted in this thread: Every 3 seconds...a child dies...Live 8.

Since the complaints about the site are a bit old I want to add that now the Christy Moore Website has lyrics to many songs and even some with chords.

I just had a quick look and it seems to be a good site with lots of lyrics. One slight quibble (which was mentioned on a thread here a long time back) is that the version of Spancil Hill on the site is not the one recorded by Christy (on Prosperous). I would imagine that an official site would have Christy's version of the songs on it, rather than someone else's (can't remember who was the first to record that version).

To paraphrase Christy. "There are somes song on the site, some not. However if you want to learn something. "Buy the record, play it 100 times , and learn, we've become too acustom to instant knowledge. Then complain when it's not instant or accurate."

You could do that. That's how we all used to learn songs.

There again if you're going to the bother of creating a webssite, you could do the job properly in the first place!

Well put Declan. point well taken. If the information is there, there's no harm in taking advantage of it.

He recorded one of my songs and DESTROYED the lyric, to the extent that the original meaning was lost. As the writer I have no real redress, but I still find it unforgivable. Still, that's what some would defend as the folk process!

I think it's safe to say there are a number of us here who would be very interested to know the background of this song. Lean ar aghaidh!

Yes, Guest, please tell us more. And acquire a name, too, so that we may determine whether your claim has any validity.

Sorry Clinton it's true. I don't want to get involved in a public slanging match hence the anonymity, but believe me he ruined it.
