I understand that it's from an album of famous musicians doing children's songs. Can anyone help me with the name of the album and perhaps let me know who else is on it and where I might get it? If it's the same song, I've heard Doc Watson sing it on The Essential Doc Watson. I must admit I never imagined Dylan (or anyone else I listened to) doing these types of traditional songs when I was listening to Blonde on Blonde and the albums of that era. I'm going to see Dylan this Friday in Ottawa. Joni Mitchell is also on the bill. I'll let you know how it goes. Dave T |

(She got ticked off at someone who yawned down front.) This was a grand opening concert at the new building of the Old Town School of Folk Music---$2,500.00 per seat. No old favorites done at all. But some said she did fine. What'd you folks think?? |

She did fine, but at a live show I look for someting more than what you might get off a CD. I'm not sure whether it was that my expectations were too high or something was really missing. It wasn't that it was bad or anything: the band was tight, relaxed at the same time; there just didn't seem to be the passion. Maybe it was just me. Dylan was great though. I'm still a big Joni Mitchell fan. Dave T |

Bob Dylan likewise, although one has to ask, as did the Sundance Kid, or was it Butch cassidy, "Who ARE these guys?" The two Dylan recordings of trad. and other people's songs are World Gone Wrong and Good as I Been to You, and they are essential, as much for his playing as his selection of material. Now: where can I get a version of Buffalo Skinners closer to what Dylan and the Band performed on their Basement tapes session, under the title "Hills of Mexico"? And where also can I get the Ian Tyson song that they call "The French Girl"? Who knows it shall reply I hope. |
