Tomorrow, Saturday October 30th I do a 40th Anniversary concert in Birmingham, the city where I made my first folk club appearance, 40 years ago to the day.
My new cd is now out and sound bites can be heard on my website.
Where does the time go?

it's the clocks, Harvey. They waste the time just spinning their hands around their faces.

Time waits for no man Harvey. First heard of you in the mid seventies...    pardon my ignorance, when my husband [ now ex ] was serving in Northern Ireland. And he brought me back a copy of SOLDIER. I still love listening to it to this day.... even though my two sons are in the army.
                      Regards Suzi.

Good luck Harve

better revive the old ones,

we keep reviving all the old performers down here in sunny St Albans.

Learned any George Papavgeris' songs yet?!!!!

congratulations - looks like I might need to buy another CD from you (when my budget recovers from the current spending spree). I love the two I have & definitely need more.

sandra (fortunately, "To: Me, From: Me" present buying time is approaching!!)

Do you have 'the Journey' ?

It was a landmark album for our Harve in my opinion.

Sorry I couldn't come, Harvey. Congratulations from Vanessa and me on your 40th anniversary! A target only few reach, and a mere handful at the top of their game, like you. VERY special!

...Or was it the 40th birthday? Listening to the voice, it could well be...

May your songs be sung for 40 times 40 years to come.

George

English Ale could well be if more of us learned it and sang it out.

It was a pretty emotional night. A full house as bright as a button. When I sang the first song I ever wrote and performed at a folk club 40 years ago to the week, a ghostly 21 year old with a full head of hair, some higher notes, and a far less cynical view of the world sang a harmony with me. I don't think anyone else saw or heard him, but it was nice to say hello, albeit fleetingly.

It's those pills the doctor gave you, Harvey. I should get a second opinion on them ;-) Or are you going "soppy"? I thought we Greeks had the market cornered on soppiness...

Really - I understand you fully, and my envy is only overshadowed by my pleasure for you. You deserve it, Harvey. Thousands would agree with me. If not millions.

I hope you had a stiff drink afterwards to compensate. I will have one for you tonight with Vanessa, and we will look at the La Jeuss piccies and reminisce. Why, we might put on something nice to listen to. Andrews seems to be in order.

All the best from us both

We don't have "halls of Fame" over here. Perhaps we should build one for the likes of Harvey. Splash it about a bit. Celebrate. This is no ordinary achievement - and I will not call it a "lifetime" one either. I bet I 'll be jealous of the next song Harvey writes, and the one after that. It isn't over yet...

I've just had a read of all the threads above - & copied out all the songs so I can print them up & study them.

I remember 'Death come easy' from yonks ago - what a song. And there was me thinking my favourite Harvey Andrews song was 'Anon'

sandra

ps.
I hope the next edition of the Digital Trdition adds Harvey as author to 'Death Come Easy'

I too have all his early works Sandra so it was with surprise and pleasure mixed with reassurance that he has developed and matured over the years.

It makes 'the journey' a 'must' to show you where he arrived in his 50s

His 'Centenarian' is a classic to match his 's'

English Ale has entered into the Trad field but elsewhere.

I await with interest to hear his latest offering.

BTW
Have you noticed this mutual admiration between El Greko and Harve which borders on great respect from both for the other.
Harv is an admirer of this 'new kid on the block' and endorses El G's lyrical and musical endeavours.

El Greko is visiting us (or maybe it's really his son) in Dec. He'll be appearing in Sydney at my other club & also in Canberra, & I can hardly wait to get more of his CDs
