31 Oct 04 - 06:04 PM (#1312501) Subject: Weave / Rosemary Crow From: Haruo I'm looking for information on Rosemary Crow, author of the song "Weave" whose refrain goes "Weave, weave, weave us together / Weave us together in unity and love / Weave, weave, weave us together / Weave us together, together in love." There are stanzas at e.g. http://guidinguk.freeservers.com/weave.html (a British Girl Guides site). A Google search turns up a Rosemary Crow active in UK nursing education, but no indication if she's the author or not, and she hasn't returned my email query. Haruo |
01 Nov 04 - 03:19 PM (#1313425) Subject: ADD: Weave (Rosemary Crow) From: GUEST,skipy WEAVE (Rosemary Crow) ^^ Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together in unity and love. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together, together in love. We are many textures, we are many colours, Each one different from the other. But we are entwined in one another in one great tapestry - Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together in unity and love. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together, together in love. We are different instruments playing our own melodies, Each one tuning to a different key, But we are all playing in harmony in one great symphony. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together in unity and love. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together, together in love. A moment ago still we did not know Our unity, only diversity. Now the Spirit in me greets the Spirit in thee in one great family. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together in unity and love. Weave, weave, weave us together, Weave us together, together in love. Skipy Click to play |

01 Nov 04 - 09:19 PM (#1313742) Subject: RE: Weave / Rosemary Crow From: Joe Offer Thanks for posting those lyrics, Skipy. You never know when a link will die, so we like to have lyrics AND a link it the song is something that might be of interest to folk musicians. The song is included in the 1997 Sangam GIT/Sangam Songbook, published by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. for the Sangam World Centre for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The song is attributed to Rosemary Crow, Copyright 1979. "Weave" was the theme song sung by delegates at the 1984 (Girl Scout/Girl Guide) World Conference in New York. The songbook says the lyrics reflect the "spirit of Guiding." |

31 May 05 - 02:40 PM (#1496747) Subject: RE: Weave / Rosemary Crow - Copyright question From: GUEST,Bill Johnson Great information. I'm interested in knowing if anyone knows the "legal" aspects of using the posted lyrics for making limited copies for one-time use. I want to make an overhead transparency of "Weave" for singing in a contemporary worship service on Wednesday. The song is not listed by CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing Inc.) and I don't know of another way to get permission to use it. Any ideas would be helpful. Bill Johnson Cullowhee, NC |

01 Jun 05 - 03:39 AM (#1497183) Subject: RE: Weave / Rosemary Crow From: Joe Offer Hi, Bill - I'll bet you could get help from the Girl Scouts, http://www.girlscouts.org/. Ask for somebody who handles music or songbooks. Tell them the song is in the Sangam GIT: Sangam Songbook. I'm sure they've run across this sort of thing before, and they should be able to help you. -Joe Offer- |

30 May 09 - 03:16 PM (#2644311) Subject: RE: Origin: Weave (Rosemary Crow) From: Haruo The refrain is in the Chalice Hymnal, but I don't think I've ever seen the rest of it on paper. Of course you could make a rough score from the MIDI file Joe cited above, but making it look like something you'd want to play from would probably take a lot of work. Incidentally, the Chalice Hymnal appears to be out of print at Amazon. The publisher's website (above) indicates it was to be reprinted last fall, but has not been updated, so it may be available or may not. If not, check local Disciples of Christ churches. Haruo |
