Hello,

we are at present working on an acoustic version of Yann Tiersen's "Monochrome" with our our irish/celtic folk band. I would be grateful for hints about the background of that song. We also found the allocation of syllables on the melody quite amazing ( a lot of unstressed syllables on accentuated notes) and wonder, was this done on purpose or did he as a non-native speaker simply neglect this consideration?

Kind regards
Johannes

I'm thinking it's purposeful, because Les Jours Tristes had every syllable correct. So obviously Tiersen's capable of it. I'm glad Monochrome isn't, it's a lot more enjoyable and unique the way he wrote it.
