Shameless Self Promo - Debra Cowan

Hi all,

I am one of these folks that is a wee bit leery of promoting myself, and I hope that it's okay to put this in here. I see many others for whom I have a lot of respect (Anahata and Mary, Jed Marum, etc) do it so I thought I might as well.

I am going to be performing at Mom and Pop's Coffeehouse in Levittown, PA this Friday, Dec. 3 . It would be great to see any Mudcatters that might be in the area. You can go to my website Debra Cowan Performances or to Mom and Pop's to get the details.

Thanks,
Debra Cowan

If you don't promote yourself, no one else is likely to either...

I hope you get a great turn out in PA - and all the region's Mudcatters show up in force!

Deb did a concert at my home about five years ago, and it was a wonderful evening.

Go for it Deb!

I make mine mostly a once-a month posting. Sometimes wonder if anybody reads it!

But as you can see, people have read yours !

Aww, thanks you guys. BTW-I bought a copy of Sharp Practice from Keith Kendrick when I was over last year. A lovely CD and is in my car always on the long trips. I love Mary's voice and the song arrangements are really wonderfully done.

And Jed...next time I am in texas we have to get together. I have a brother in Colleyville that I stay with. So next time I am there and you are not on tour, let's do it!

Thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.

Deb

When are you over here again Debra? Sorry we missed you last time - we were in all the right places at the wrong times!

Hi Debra,
As you can see Anahata doesn't read other peoples' promo material either! I have just chastised him for not checking out your clever little blue clicky.
I am very sorry we won't be in Skipton or York for either of your gigs, but we could try to find somewhere to stay in Derbyshire and come to Keith Kendrick's club to see you. We will work on it.
Good luck,
Mary

Hmmm...there wasn't a coffeehouse in Levittown, PA when I lived there. Of course, that was 1958 and I was four years old...

Best of luck on the tour. Let me know if you're planning to come to Hawaii!

Aloha,
Mark

Hawaii? I am there! Espcially in the deepest, darkest winter in New England.

Mary and Anahata, let's try to hook up at some point. I'll be over for six weeks this time, from mid-March-mid April. It would be great to see you in Derby.

Best,
Debra

Satuday, January 22, 2005: DEBRA COWAN and MICHAEL DeLALLA at Moxie's Cafe & Gallery (128 Broadway, Chico). More information to follow. [Note from Debra: My newest CD, "Dad's Dinner Pail" is slated to be released in early 2005. This CD comprises songs that have been gleaned from the Helen Hartness Flanders Ballad Collection. I am deeply indebted to Michael DeLalla at Falling Mountain Music for his work on this project. Not only did he produce and engineer this recording, but he also contributed some magical guitar work that enhances the songs.]

Wow. Thanks, everyone. I might add to you UK'ers that the AMAZING Pete Smith will be joining me for a few gigs when I am in the UK. Animaterra, I am always thinking of you and wish you well. New Hampshire has evaded me gig-wise, but I am still trying.

And Jed, you got a deal!

Thanks also to Laurel, a god friend for nigh on 20 years for letting folks knw about the show in Chico, CA.

If anyone is interested in getting my email announcements approx. once a month and snail-mail when I am coming to your area, you are more than welcome to click on the Contact link on my website. That will tell you where you can send an email to get on the list.

Thanks, everyone.

Deb

Deb, if you know Laurel, you might also know Phil, a fine tenor banjo player also from Chico. He comes to Hawaii each year for an extended stay...maybe you could hitch a ride sometime!

Mark

I hope to make the Skipton do in March but I also wondered if you ever get back to Scotland in January where Glasgow hosts the superb "Celtic Connections" festival?

Awrra best, hen.

Hi Bill,

I haven't yet been to or performed in Celtic Connections, though it is ceryainly on my "to do before I die" list. I have many friends who have been involved and many others who attend every year.

And Mark, if you are talking about Phil from Concow, yes I have known him as long as I have known Laurel.

And Peter, I'd love to do another humour session at some point with the Woodchucks. I seem to be a-travelin' when NOMAD and NEFFA have been on in the last few years.

Thanks for all the kind words. It is so nice that people enjoy my singing.

Deb

I will do some "shameless self" promoting as well!    I am so pleased that Debra Cowan will be my guest on WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS!   For those of you who aren't in the NYC area, you can tune in via the internet at www.wfdu.fm.    Deb, I am sure you will have a few surprises for us this Sunday?

Also, Tracy Grammer will be on the program.   What a treat - Debra and Tracy on the same show!!! Tracy will be on at 3pm, followed by Debra at 4.   Traditions airs from 3 to 6pm ET.
