29 Nov 04 - 12:49 PM (#1342225) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris It's all thanks to John & Nicole (C/street). I'll have to do the gig in swimmers and thongs though... |
29 Nov 04 - 12:53 PM (#1342232) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: Rasener George I hope you have a very succesfull trip. Are you taking Vanessa? I hope so, she deserves it :-) |
29 Nov 04 - 01:10 PM (#1342247) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: Singing Referee George, I hope you're joking about "swimmers and thongs", although it confirms my suspicion that you're only going to Oz to try to get on "I'm a celebrity; get me out of here"! Steve. |
29 Nov 04 - 01:17 PM (#1342255) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris You saw through my ploy, Steve! Am I so transparent? Yes, Les, Vanessa is coming with me to Oz. With our son in Canberra, wild horses couldn't keep her... |
29 Nov 04 - 01:23 PM (#1342262) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: Rasener That leaves you to have a great time while Vanessa looks after Son :-) |

29 Nov 04 - 06:30 PM (#1342533) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: GUEST,Dr Price Good luck, me old mate. I've never been to Australia, unless you count an hour sitting at the end of a runway at Cairns airport. We have been three times to New Zealand, though - the last time we were there, we gigged almost constantly. What a fabulous, stunning country. You never know - your gig may be the key to unlock Oz. With John and Nicole gunning for you, the World's your oyster. Give them a big hug from me and Pat Spoons. |
30 Nov 04 - 02:54 AM (#1342930) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris Robin, I'm looking forward to meeting you after the Brisbane gig. You'll recognise me easily - I'll be the fat one with the steamed-up glasses standing in a spreading pool of sweat. Dr Price - will do; and thanks for the good wishes. In fact there are to be 4 gigs in Oz this time round (OK, one of them is not a gig, but a house session), three of them arranged through Mudcatters: One in Canberra, two in Sydney, and the Brisbane one. Shows the power of a forum such as Mudcat. I had many requests already for CDs - some have asked for the full set of five already. So, a box of CDs/inserts should be arriving in Canberra about now, and my son should be busy putting them into locally-obtained jewel cases. I will post details of all 4 events as soon as I have finalised the details of the session in Sydney; I believe it is to be at freda's place. Watch this space. |
30 Nov 04 - 06:39 AM (#1343015) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe I'll be the one with the beard and the Fooles Troupe hat, unless it's gotton too hot and I've snapped and shaved it off, in which case I'll be the one with the white face... :-) (the beard that is...) ... and of course you will please tell us what your CD prices will be? Robin (El Crocko) |
30 Nov 04 - 08:16 AM (#1343085) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: JennyO Hi George. I'm looking forward to meeting you. I'll be at freda's session and at Almost Acoustic where you are performing. You'll probably meet a few of us Sydney catters. BTW, will you still be in Sydney on Wednesday 22nd? If so, John Warner and I are having a summer solstice drop-in day (going on into the night) with the BBQ all fired up and music and drinks under the big tree. Any other catters in Sydney on that day are welcome to come, too. PM me for details. Jenny |
30 Nov 04 - 08:25 AM (#1343095) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris Sorry JennyO, I'll be in Brisbane on the 22nd. Looking forward to meeting you at AA and freda's! |

30 Nov 04 - 08:31 AM (#1343099) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris I'm up for it, Robin. Don't know yet where we'll be kipping with Vanessa (John T organising billet), and therefore arrangements for lifts etc, but I'm sure there'll be at least 4 of us (John, Nicole, Vanessa and the Wog Boy) desperate for some liquid intake after the gig. I'll have sweated at least a litre's worth of something (my son said it's 37 deg C in Canberra today, so I am ready to melt in Brisbane). |
30 Nov 04 - 08:43 AM (#1343110) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe Depends on the time of night - they used to roll up the side walks in Brisbane after Midnight before Expo 88, but now there are a few places around - depends if you want to eat at that time too - a bit out of touch these days, as I have been on the poverty line for several years... but I'm sure we can find somewhere, especially not too expensive - if you want alcohol, that will limit the places a bit - they tend to only cater to rich drunks after midnight. :-) BTW, like your website now. |
30 Nov 04 - 08:44 AM (#1343112) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris Robin, you asked about the CD prices. They will be AU$ 24 each, with a 16.7% discount for Mudcatters (i.e. AU$ 20). |
30 Nov 04 - 08:46 AM (#1343115) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: George Papavgeris Stick close to me on the night Robin, and we'll be all right (or should that be "she'll be right"? I'm a newbie at Strine) |
30 Nov 04 - 07:20 PM (#1343767) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe I'd bring a squeeze box, but my 'travelling box' needs a service... so you'll be safe.. :-) |

From: breezy A performance with El G plus Cloudst will be great have been privileged to have had them together for all too breif moments. It allows Geo to practise his harmonies, and he sure needs to.!!:-) Have you all learned the chorus of Emptyhanded then ? What about the Underdog, or is it over down there? Hows Angelo? Without You? Is George in shorts? |
22 Dec 04 - 10:30 PM (#1363707) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe Very Good! Yum! Wonderful! Great! And had a nice little chat with George and the Upper & Lower Cloudbanks! Looking forward to next year....:-) |

24 Dec 04 - 12:06 AM (#1364643) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe Robin's Review of George's Brisbane Concert: Part 1) Cloudstreet - missed first 3 songs due to companion not arriving on time - she got lost walking there and I had to find her - lucky we both had mobile phones... Interval: nice tea & coffee - good cakes - better than the Kookaburra (as some nice lady there said!) Part 2) George was very good - without having taken written notes, I can't remember exactly what songs he did... but they did seem on checking when I picked up the CDs to be mostly on there. Part 3) George and Cloudstreet together - very good - I can remember the Windmill song! George does very well on the 12 string - and his bracket had lots of variety in it - showed off his range of writing talents well. End of concert... (that's all she wrote!) Hope that helps! (I wasn't the ONLY Mudcatter there!) |
27 Dec 04 - 07:48 AM (#1364985) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: The Fooles Troupe Look, if you wanted a sensible review, you should have asked someone rational, shouldn't you? |
27 Dec 04 - 08:49 AM (#1365010) Subject: RE: El Greko in Brisbane? From: Sandra in Sydney sounds very sensible to me - the kind of review I write (which is why I get freda & other wordsmiths to write Dog reviews). Maybe we will have to wait till George or John or Nicole (wordsmiths all) write reviews. seasonable greetings to you!! sandra |
