new button box tutor book

Subject: new button box tutor book
From: buttonbox

I am writing a comprehensive tutor book which will cover the BC 2 row box and also provide full info on the 3 row BCC# box with accordion bass. The 3 row (as played by Jimmy Shand, John Kirkpatrick aand many other top class players is a natural progression for 2 row players wanting a 'full accordion sound'. It is also important for new players to learn on the BC rows first. Therefore combining the two in one book should suit everybody!

Publication 1995. Expressions of interest greatfully recieved (no committment on your part at this stage) Anybody expressing an interest will be emailed furthur details when available and be offered a pre publication discount. Expressions of interest best sent as PM's

thanks

As a mediocre BC box player, I would be very interested in your tutor book, but I'm confused about 'Publication 1995'. Do you mean 19.9.05?

Regards and good luck with the book

I must confess to being a failed learner of the B/C box. I had a Black Dot Doubleray, long since sold, but I still have a melodion made by Dibora, which I still try to play. The rage at the moment seems to be DVD/CD rom tutors how well do you feel a "Book" will be recieved and are you aiming at complete starters?

Button acordions/melodians are usualy reffered to by the number of rows of buttons and the keys the rows are in. So a two row B/C box tha two rows of buttons, the outside row (the row fartherest from the bellows)is in "C" and the inside row (closest to the bellows) is in "B". A lot of Irish players use two row B/C boxes some two row C/C#, most English players play G/D. Melodians are usualy single row boxes in one key, "G", "D", "C".Melodian style playing generaly means just playing on one row and one key, while accordian style means playing accross the rows picking out what flats and sharps are there to play is several keys. The Traditional Music and Song Assosiation of Scotland, The TMSA, has a rulling that in any TMSA run competitions if your instrument has eight or less bass buttons, your playing a melodian, if your instrument has more that eight bass buttons your playing a button accordion.

The book; will provide comprehensive tuition for both BC and BCC# systems, which are of course closely related and will start at the beginning but include enough material to help poeople reach a good middle of the road standard. Problem with DVDs CDs etc is that they do not provide the same standard of learning material that can be provided and carefully studied in   book form. With a CD you need to put your box on, get your fingers in the right position - turn the CD player on with ? your foot - and before you know it the bit you wanted has been and gone! -= wind back - get ready to go again - switch on etc etc etc!.

The tutor book will not be a tune book, as there are plenty of good tune books around. It will of course include many tunes, all of which should be familier to most players, each tune being there to facilitate the learning of a particular technique rather than just to enable people to develop a larger repertoire of tunes played without any sort of 'good' technique.

leve message for me via mudcat personal messages if you would like more details nearer publication date.

cheers

Re the Auldtimers reply, a B/C box has B on the outside row and C on the inside row. For consistancy the box English players paly should be refered to as a D/G (D on the outside and G on the inside). And it's spelled melodeon not melodian.

For all the info in the world visit
