Louth Folk Club

We are having our Folk club xmas party, in the upstairs room, at the Louth Town & Country Club (Cannon Street, Louth) on Saturday the 11th December. Entertainment will be provided by anyone who wants to get up and sing (posh singaround) or dance or recite etc.etc.etc. It is a large room so needs filling. It costs nothing to get in and the drinks are cheap(benefits of a club). It would be nice to see people from local clubs turning up, everyone who wants to perform will be given the chance to do so.

Sorry mate, we can't make it. Is there a pantomime this year - we'll be extra sad to miss that!

Hope the evening goes well. My apologies, as Fence said, I'm performing elsewhere, with a safety net of 179 other singers and a 90 piece Band!. We'll just have to get ourselves more organised next year!.

Seasons Greetings to everyone.

Deirdre

Hi! I have not made a posting for months now and only back since I went to the Louth Folk Club Xmas party with Travelling Audience and Georgiansilver. I enjoyed the night! It was a varied CHRISTMAS SELECTION BOX style of music and one of my favourites was the Blues Brothers renditions with guitar, mandolin and harmonica. I have a harmonica but I NEED MORE PRACTICE!!!!

I liked it when Heather did her human glockenspiel with 8 volunteers whom sat down for a head ache when she told them to say "OUCH!" in the right note when she banged their heads.

Hallo everyone, just found this chat room, whilst searching for a song! You will all probably know my brother Tom of blues, skiffle and jazz fame?! Tom and I ran the Louth folk club in the seventies along with 'Silverbirch' etal. Had great evenings in the old Louth Youth Club, near the football ground before moving to the Poacher and the the Woodman. I remember it first at the Fleece un Upgate, when John Connally and Bill Meek came with 'The Meggies' along with Brian Dawson etal. Oh what great days they were. Tom is still in Louth, I sadly moved from Lince in 1988 and find my self in Leamington Spa now. The local folk scene is absolutely s..t! Lots of talent but no-one will came to any folk clubs to support them these days. (We did a Ceilidh last Saturday - 6 piece band, caller and 2 dancers turned up - do we qualify for the Guinness Book of Records?!) It would be nice to chat to some of you. All the very best Bob.
