22 Nov 98 - 07:11 PM (#46498) Subject: RE: Johnny From: Bobby Bob, Ellan Vannin I thought it was a song by Hollander, made famous by Marlene Dietrich. Hollander was associated with the writing of Falling in Love Again, Blonde Women, Lola and other Marlene Dietrich goodies. Bobby Bob |
24 Nov 98 - 03:05 PM (#46675) Subject: RE: Johnny From: malena Yeah, it sounds Hollander-like, but can´t be, since it says Les Paul on the cover. I remember another song: Johnny, wenn du Geburtstag hast (Johnny, when it´s your birthday) by Marlene Dietrich, but that´s not it. Any more suggestions??? malena |

Les Paul made a popular arrangement, but I am not sure that he was the original composer. See www.paroles.net, the site for all songs French. |
07 Mar 11 - 08:48 AM (#3108872) Subject: RE: info: Johnny (tu n'est pas un ange ) From: GUEST this is a Romanian folk song called "Sanie cu zurgălăi", The song was composed by Richard Stein (Romanian) in 1937! The song "inspired" Les Paul (the copyright dispute had been won by Stein)! Piaf and Vaya con Dios also sang on this beautiful melodical line "Johnny, the boy for me"! However, the song is Romanian 100%. Enjoy! |
