This is driving me nuts. Does someone out there remember the blues lyric that starts out "Love you baby but I hate your dirty ways"? I think it was Big Bill Broonzy but I've been wrong before.

What part of a woman is her "ways?" Or is it of a man?

Peter.

Perhaps we can deduce which part of a woman is her "ways" by coming up with bits of blues lyrics which use this expression. I can think of one off the top of my head, from Muddy Waters:

"The girl is nineteen years old,
She got ways just like a baby child."

Any other examples?

James Baldwin wrote an essay called Uses of the Blues in which he quoted this line from an unnamed blues song:

"I love you, baby, but I can't stand your dirty ways."

I know a song about Well if you can't stop your sinning, Please, Quit your lowdown ways - not sure if it's the same one?

Hello,
I have a version of CC Rider by Dutch Tilders, an Australian blues guy, which goes:

I love you baby, hate your dirty ways-2x's
when i leave this town you know I've gone to stay
