Once I heard it I could see the reasoning behind the statment, but I never thought about it when I watched seasame street. They were friends who lived together, what's weird about that? |

Ernie was just oblivious and didn't realize there was any problem at all. Maybe Bert came from an abusive family. When my brother was little he used to call them both Ernie. I wonder if that signifies something. Of course we had two uncles and he used to call them both Jeff. When we finally convinced him they were two different people with two different names the best he could do was to call one Jeff and the other "the other one" |

Because it's a kid's song. That means that every kid in the world whose mom plays a little bit of guitar is going to walk up to her someday while she's strumming one of the five songs she knows and say, "Mommy, could you play 'Rubber Ducky'?" And ya know what? Mom's not gonna be able to play it. Why? Because the chords are pretty darned complicated. Oh, they'd be no trouble for most of the guitar geeks that hang out here. They're a pretty straight ahead swing progression. But poor Mom that only knows ten chords is not gonna be able to play "Rubber Duckie". Then the kid's gonna get all upset and start crying and Mom's going to feel like a total failure at parenting. And all because the guy that wrote the song couldn't have just made it a simple G-C-D'er. |
