Go figure! The French called her courageous and said she spoke with clarity and conviction. From all accounts, she was a big hit. I'm in shock but heh, they like Jerry Lewis, too.

They probably think she is a reincarnation of Josephine Baker;~)

You're right, Giok!

Maybe we should start a rumor that she's actually Algerian. That ought to stop the admiration....

The French invented the language of diplomacy. When they say she spoke with "clarity", it means that her position is clearly ridiculous, when they say "conviction" it means that no one believes a word of it, and "courageous" means, given what she was going to say, she had a lot of nerve to show up in the first place.

This Frenchman that invented the language of diplomacy, was his name Charles De Gaulle by any chance?

When Condy Rice speaks, she has a habit of pausing to select words. With many public speakers, this could be construed as "thinking." With Rice, it sounds like she's thinking up a lie. I don't trust her as far as I could throw her.

Well, be fair. All they've had from the Anglo-Saxon world for a while is Bush and Blair. Someone vaguely articulate, if a tad to the right of Attila the Hun, must have come as a welcome change.

Actually, having just read that back, I've just described Charles de Gaulle. And Condi. And Powell. And Blair.

But not Bush. It's the vaguely articulate bit...

Actually, I think that the diplomacy business was invented by Cardinal Richelieu--

Ahhhhh, the French were impressed with her girlish figure and that's about it...

Tha't one thing that the French and Bush have in common...
