Review: Judy Cook on Tour

Subject: Review: Judy Cook on Tour
From: Micca

Just got back from a splendid evening at Maidenhead Folk Club where we heard Judy Cook at the beginning of her UK tour. What a wonderful evening of song! Well worth the Hour each way on the M25 even.
And what do you get for this effort I hear you ask??
An eclectic mix of Songs Sung unaccompanied, but with great clarity and style, ranging from Variants and versions of Traditional Ballads and songs (I especially liked the Barbara Allen and Laredo variants. to more modern and humorous songs to suit all tastes. Her especially, the "Tamworth 2" song (I know its not what its called or even what its about but hear it and you will know what I mean) and the song about "waiting for the true Love to turn up" were very funny.
I would say if you get a chance to Hear/see Judy do so, we very much enjoyed the evening, Many Thanks Judy,
Micca

I'm really looking forward to seeing her again in Birmingham on March 11th. Leraud ahs posted Judy's full itinerary on this thread Judy Cook - House Concert -UK- 9 March.

Micca, an hour each way on the M25 is nothing compared to having to go to the Getaway to see her sing!.

Just piggybacking on this thread a year later to say Judy Cook is headlining at the Topic Folk Club
in Bradford (West Yorkshire) this coming Thursday 23rd March (2006) at 8.30. (Featured support: Andy Hill).

2006 is the Topic's Golden Jubilee year, btw.

No, the link is wrong - usual mudcatter error: in a hyperlink the url has to have the http:// bit in front of the www.

Try Judy Cook

Oh, sorry padgett, I thought you meant the Topic link didn't work, not the Judy Cook one.

Ah. None of my browsers have ever required the http:// bit, next time I'll use Max's make-a-link thingy.

At any rate I hope lots of people are getting to meet Judy and Dennis and are having a wonderful evening.

Hello, kids,

Have a fine time singin' up a storm.

Dennis, I suspect you know that the/our CD is out and Sandy is trying to keep up with details etc. Thanks again for making it happen for me. At this late date, it's a kick and a half to still make a few waves on our little folk river. I miss the pickin' and seeing the gig people all over more than I can say. --- Be safe in your travels!!

An absolute Corker at Sharps tonight (4-4-06), excellent support from the usual suspects, but Judy and Dennis (sorry for calling you George, Dennis)were tremendous, the closeness of the "audience" and the way they are seated around makes for a very intimate and friendly situation so that every nuance could be clearly heard, Again an Excellent evening, thank you both very much.

Send her back, Micca, in the same condition in which she arrived. She is supposed to appear in Maine in the early Fall. I have you phone number and know WHEN to use it.
