Lincolnshire Folk spring meeting

26 Feb 05 - 04:46 AM (#1421327)
Subject: Lincolnshire Folk spring meeting
From: Sooz

The first Sunday in March is officially spring for Lincolnshire folk. The spring meeting this year is to be held at Walesby Village Hall near Market Rasen on Sunday 6th March from 1pm - 5pm. Singers, musicians and storytellers all welcome (not much room for dancers here, but there will be at the Autumn event at Gainsborough Old Hall)
We're looking forward to a really good day.

The Lincolnshire Folk spring event is always on the first Sunday in March. Isn't it a pity that the ecclesiatical calendar isn't as simple!?

Myrtle
Do what one of my regulars is doing. She is bringing her mom and Dad with her, and making some delicious sandwiches for all of them and that will be their mothering sunday event. Just needs a bit of imagination :-)
I will have to visit my Mother in Lincoln early on the Sunday morning and get back in time for the afternon event. It's a matter of getting your priorities right LOL :-)
Cheers
Les

Hey Villan, you didn't tell me that the Birmingham you hail from is Birmingham Alabama! 'Mom' indeed! Here in sunny N.W. Lincs, in Border Country, we always talk about 'Me Mam'. Even that southern-puff's word 'Mum' will do, but 'Mom'? Sheesh! ROFLMAO!
S:0)

Anyways up - Myrtle, told you last week, bring her along, she might just have a great time! And so will you lass!

See you there guys.

I'd love to bring her , but she lives in York with my very frail Dad, so its just not going to happen..Have a good one anyway guys, and if you listen real hard you might hear me in the far distance singing sad lonely songs!!!!
Poor Myrtle sits a weeping...!

Poor Myrtle sits a weeping,
Whilst the folkies begin to play
At Walesby Village Hall
This coming Mothering Sunday

She will sit and eat her dinner
With her Mom and Dad from York
Lots of sprouts, carrots and peas
I almost forgot to mention the pork

No doubt we folkies
Will raise a glass for her
This lovely lass called Myrtle
All the way from Gainsborough

Glad to see somebody appreciates my 2 minute effort LOL :-).

As I am not sure who Myrtle is, I made the assumption that it was a Gainsborough folkie.

Where you from then Myrtle me dear?

Les, Myrtle is Rosie from Louth! She does sometimes grace Gainsborough, and very welcome she is too!

Thanks Deirdre. That does ring a bell now. Sorry about that Rosie.

Poor Rosie sits a weeping,
Whilst the artists begin to play
At Walesby Village Hall
This coming Mothering Sunday

She will sit and eat her dinner
With her Mom and Dad from York
Lots of sprouts, carrots and peas
And don't forget the pork

Whilst we sit there all cosy
We raise a glass to our mouth
To this lovely lass called Rosie
All the way from Louth

I would just like to remind people coming from the south of Market Rasen, that the Races are on. You may need to take a different route to avoid possible traffic jams. Have a look at the map by clicking on the link below. Do not go into Market Rasen if you can avoid it.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=513395&y=392400&z=5&sv=513395,392400&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&dn=

My suggestion would be that if you are coming up the A46, then at Faldingworth turn left and follow the country lane and then turn right, heading for West Rasen. When you come to the A631 turn left and follow it until you come to the A1103. Turn right and follow it through to the A46 and cross over the A46 carry straight on until you arrive at Waleby. Keep going until you see the Village hall on your left. Park in the lanes but please do not park across anybodys drive or the verges.

If you are coming from the Louth direction, take a right onto the B1225 after Ludford.

See you there and take care.
