BS: Grrrrr... I'm mad at my cat.......

Okay, now this ol' hillbilly is mad, mad, mad...

Like this morning, Emma, my calico, throws up on the living room carpet. She does that now and then but the P-Vine and I had to be gone today and were trying to get on the road so we didn't need that 10 minute delay to clean up, but, hey, what are ya gonna do...

Got home a little while ago and the cat had not only knocked over but broke a 60 year old ceramic lamp that belonged to my grandmother and which I remember being the coolest thing that my garndmother owned. I was a honey-combed pattern with flowers and a low watt light inside and I remember sleeping on her couch as a 4 year old and looking at that lamp with the light inside on like a night light...

Sniff...

I'm real mad at that cat and she knows it. I don't ever yell at a cat because intellectually know that does no good, but I sho nuff yelled at her...

I'm mad at my cat...

Grrrrrrrr....

Bobert

Try ignoring her when she comes for a stroke. If mine annoy me, that's what I do. Not for tooooooo long though.

Recommended Therapy:

CLICK HERE and then click the line you will see that says "Click here to display item." It should play a song you will like, which even includes a catlike sound as if a tail has been trod upon late at night on the way to a potty break. :~)

Learn that song and do me proud, mudbrudda! If you git real good at looking around in that site, also look for "Come on down to my log cabin" and jes' swap in yore bus for the cabin.

:~)

Alice peed on a guest's belongings today - here kitty kitty! Time for a drink from the toilet.

Sorry about the lamp, Bobert. It is hard to lose little bits of one's past.

It is hard when treasured things get broken, but at least your memories of the lamp are still intact.

Mad at my cat .... I hate it when our female siamese cat gets angry at me ... she'll go into our closet and scratch my clothes that are hanging up, not my wifes, but mine!

Anyway that you can glue it back together? Sorry, either way. They are so loveable despite being such klutzes (even if it is on purpose sometimes!)

Used to have a house with heating vents in the floor. Used to have a cat that would pee in them when she was pissed off. Sold the house in the summer, when the heating system was off...then left town.

My wife (without my permission) agreed to look after two moggies belonging to a friend. One is a cute female about 10 weeks old. The other is a 6 month old tom. Even though he has had hit bits nipped it has not stopped him marking his territory.

Little bugger got into my study room, decided it was a male only room, mine, and decided to mark it has his!

Any more scent marking of my room will see the said offender using up all 9 lives in one go and being taken to the taxidermist to be stuffed as a draft excluder.

What's the best way of getting rid of Eau de Tom ?

I play the accordion to my cat when it is in the bad books ... it hates it. Despite its full face of fur you can still almost see the blood drain out of the cat's face as I strap myself into the instrument..

I'm lucky to have a pretty good cat. sorry about the lamp, Bobert. Actually, my cat snipped the cord to a thermometer when he was a kitten. He's thankfully gotten out of the biting phase though.

Er, Shanghaiceltic, if he's had his bits snipped off, he's not a tom anymore. He's definitely a bothersome sprayer, though. You could try putting something citrussy where he sprays; cats hate the smell of orange or lemon.

Other than that ... I guess keep him out of the study.

Don't try using strong cleaners to get rid of the scent; they don't. I don't know if you can find enzymes where you are for getting rid of this sort of thing, but they work best.

When I moved here, my cat Onyx decided to target my bedroom for all her attentions. One sheepskin mat and a lot of bedding later, I banned her from there for all time. She's mainly an outside cat anyway, so it's not too much of a bother, but if she comes inside, she knows not to go there - hasn't even tried lately.

It looks like soon I might be inheriting my son's cat Bella, as they are moving back to Sydney and renting a flat. So I will have two black cats - both females. I'll be watching out for possible bad behaviour during the settling in period.

Experience tells me that just because they are females does not guarantee that there won't be trouble. A few years ago, a friend moved in with her old female cat to where I was living at the time. Onyx didn't seem too worried, although it was a bit of a standoff, but the other cat acted in a very hostile way, and started leaving messages all over the house, and the smell was very hard to get rid of. I have yet to find a product that really works. I really hope I won't need to look for one again.

Jenny

Somebody asked what's good for cleaning cat pee. My vet's suggests a premium laundry detergent, such as Gain. It seems to work.

Bobert, did the cat knock over the lamp because it was leaping up to look out a window, no doubt at another animal? (invader cat, impudent squirrel, delicious bird?) If so, it's not to blame, is it?

Think about your remaining favorite objects and whether they are in front of strategic feline patrol positions.

Natures Miracle sometimes works well on cat pee. The only SUREFIRE way we've found to get rid of the smell, once and for all, is to paint the offended area with Kilz. Unfortunately, it only comes in white, no clear, so you have to be prepared to either have a white floor, wall, or whathaveyou, or paint over the Kilz with your choice of colour, after.

Sorry about the lamp, Bobert, I really am.

We've put bells on the cats collars so the birds and mice have a fighting chance, trouble is our birds and mice seem to need hearing aids! Found just a pair of little birdy legs left over from Mimi's last feast.

BTW do any of your cats approach their food bowl and scrape around it with their paws as if uncovering the food, and then after eating scrape the imaginary soil back over the food. Ours do.

Ours would poop in the dining room when she was mad at us. She was mostly a very reasonable cat but she was picky about the litterbox and she didn't like being left alone--if we went out of town for a few days we invariably found a gift waiting for us in the corner by the pie safe.

Anyone who believes they can live in peace with a cat gets what they deserve.

The nicest cat I ever had was at a roadside stand near Tijuca beach, just south of Rio de Janeiro. I've always wished I had asked for the recipe for the marinade.

"Think about your remaining favorite objects and whether they are in front of strategic feline patrol positions."

In my case, that favorite object is my left eye! Back in December we had an early-morning wind storm, and my torbie (Chatty Maddie the Bratty Fatty) was agitated by the noise and was zooming around my apartment. In my bedroom, the head of the bed is directly underneath a window. I was in bed, half-asleep, when Maddie jumped onto the foot of the bed, raced up my body, and planted her hind foot in my eye socket as she sprang off my face and onto the windowsill. Of course I flinched, and her claws dug in around my eye. Now, I'd had two surgeries on my RIGHT eye over the past year and was scheduled for a third operation (since performed), so as the blood ran down my face my first reaction was to yell at the cat, "Noooo, not my good eye!!!" I was extremely fortunate that none of her claws scratched the actual eyeball, but now I have scars on my lower eyelid, my upper eyelid and my eyebrow... and I spent the next month explaining to concerned friends that it was only my cat who gave me a shiner.

Anyway, Bobert, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother's lamp. Sounds like Emma might still have been feeling out of sorts after throwing up. But to be on the safe side, if you have other breakables of sentimental value in the house, you might want to consider getting a curio cabinet to keep them on view but away from Emma.
