Good luck with the song - I heard Alan Taylor grumble that he doesn't like ordinary mortals covering his songs, so I don't bother any more. |

He told me he's very happy if others cover his songs, but he likes them to do them their own way, not just slavishly copy his version. Maybe that's where the rumour came from?? S:0) |
09 Mar 05 - 12:05 PM (#1430698) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Flower in the Snow by Allan Taylor From: Amos Glad to hear that, since I have been playing Flower in the Snow for a year now. The chords are just the major triad (tonic, subdominant, dominant) in a style similar to but slower than the famous riff in "La Bamba". 1, 4, 5, with a walk down to the relative minor where the verse goes "Like a mountain stream, all crystalline and clean". In C: C, F, G, Am. A |

15 Mar 05 - 08:24 AM (#1435189) Subject: Chords Add: FLOWER IN THE SNOW (Allan Taylor) From: GUEST,Jim It's a few years since I played it, and my recording is on those old large plastic disk things now stored in the loft, but as I recall I played it like this: Flower In The Snow Allan Taylor D A A A7 D G A A7 D G A It was just a moment, a moment of passion A7 D G Bm Like a mountain stream crystalline and clean A Asus2 A Tumbling and crashing A7 D G A A7 D G A It was something special few will ever know A7 D G Bm Something out of line standing out of time D A A flower in the snow He was just a wanderer on his way to nowhere Like a bird in flight passing in the night Didn't have a care She came to him in darkness and gave it all away After years of waiting shyly hesitating She stayed till day But the wanderer left her and travelled on his way Whistling a tune to the man in the moon Far away And she lit a candle and left it in her window Let the light burn 'cause lovers never learn How to let go |

17 Mar 05 - 09:04 AM (#1436844) Subject: Chords Add: FLOWER IN THE SNOW (Allan Taylor) From: GUEST,Jim OK – I found the recording, and it's not quite as I remembered it – easier in fact. Allan plays it with a simple "Dum-Ching" rhythm, and NOT as posted by Amos - "in a style similar to but slower than the famous riff in "La Bamba". Flower In The Snow (From the Album "Lines" – 1988) Allan Taylor Capo 1st Fret (D) (A) It was just a (D)moment, (A) a moment of (D)passion (G) Like a mountain (D)stream (G)crystalline and (Bm)clean Tumbling and (D)crashing (A) It was something (D)special (A) few will ever (D)know (G) Something out of (D)line (G)standing out of (Bm)time A flower in the (D)snow (A) (D) (A) He was just a wanderer on his way to nowhere Like a bird in flight passing in the night He didn't have a care And she came to him in darkness, gave it all away All the years of waiting, shyly hesitating She stayed till day (Chorus) But the wanderer left her, travelled on his way Whistling a tune for the man in the moon Far away She lit a candle, left it in her window Let the light burn 'cause lovers never learn How to let go (Chorus) When it was just a moment…. |
