He is a living legend.

He is famous.

Has been away from the scene for a while.

A very funny artiste

He hails from Accrington too I believe.

Out of the top draw of British folk entertainers.

Hey Breezy

Is it right what I hear that Dale Wensley is doing a spot on Friday too. Saw him in Yorkshire a few years back, a truly great 'Fromagiste' in my opinion. Dale's version of the Briar and the Roule has to be heard to be believed. Any chance he might do it Friday?

If you mean the bi-annual Maidenhead songwriting competition it was a well deserved win by Les Sullivan with "The Ringmasters Hat" (I think that's the title anyway). I have already joined the queue for the words. Les tells me he plans to include it on his next (2nd) cd.

Our own, lovely, Mr Flegg came in a close 2nd with his song about the iron-age chalk "man" and Kaye Tillet (who had to wait until last to perform - how nerve-racking) was 3rd with a delightful song about a Red Kite (bird of prey, not kid's toy).

It was a great evening with lots of very good songs performed to a high standard.

It's just possible that one or two of them will be performed by their authors at Snorbens over the next few weeks. Watch this space!!

It's not the taking part it's the winning that counts. Unlucky everyone else.

we were blown away by Stanley tonight

If you aint ever seen him then do so

he's been around for a 1/4 of a century

He is a great original creative entertainer.

Performs in so many different styles

His shantey dedicated debased on Wayne Rooney, or was it shrek is a must for any shntey crew.

for statessidecatters Rooney is a soccer player

His delivery of the Battle of Moulden , in Danish dialect is a classic

and as Flegg said he had us singing a load of bollocks when he performed Old Man River in Mandarin.

And much much more

and such a voice too

and a shirt that looked like a T V colour test card

Swinton on Monday, but they'll've had their inoculations.

I know he drops in ere for a read from time to time

Thanks Dale?

Cheers Stanley look forward to another dose

from all at Windward

My face still hurts this morning.
Les Barker/Sid Kipper have a worthy adversary in Stan.
He'll be dahn sarf again, if we have to go North to abduct him.
