30 Mar 05 - 04:33 PM (#1447111) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: Tannywheeler Dear Zany, How awful to have to combine those 2 words in a single sentence (b___ and c_____). There seem to be a lot of positive thought/good vibes/praying folks on Mudcat, and you know you've got them in your corner. Another thing you can do: I don't know where "up here" is, but if you are near any Episcopal churches, find one that has a Daughters of The King group. This group will pray for you by name and will want to be kept informed as you go through this journey so they can pray very specifically. You will go on the list at my church down here in Austin, Texas. Give me a pronunciation guide for Rhiannon. Tw |

31 Mar 05 - 03:06 AM (#1447604) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: Zany Mouse To all my wonderful Catter pals. Many, many thanks for the wonderful support. I found out about this just before going to Miskin and it rather wiped out the weekend for me, as all I really wanted to do was SLEEP. Yes, even at Miskin. I've been ill for so many years now that this seems to be just another thing to battle, I'm shocked at how painful it is though. Still, I've survived worse than this (heart attack, stroke, etc.) and I'll get through this as well - especially with all the love and support of my Catter friends. Incidentally Guest, what does Mudcat cencorship have to do with it? Am I missing something here? Rhiannon |

31 Mar 05 - 07:55 PM (#1448468) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: Dave'sWife Rhiannon, there are a numbering of Knitting groups that like to help out people with serious illnesses by literally clothing them in love. I know of a few programs that will send a handmade Shawl to people fighting Cancer or other serious illnesses, the idea being that every time you wear it, you will feel the love they put in each stitch and know that as they stiched it, every stich represents a prayer that was said on your behalf. This is done here in the US through both Episcopal and Methodist churches and does not require your membership to participate. They consider it a special prayer ministry and believe that it will help the recipients fight the illness and concentrate on recovery. I have sent my Mum a crocheted 'angel' from another group which crochets Angels and Smiley faces which are then mailed to people who have been nominated by a friend. It really helped my Mum get through a surgery and recovery. They choose a volunteer who lives near the nominated person and when its done. that volunteer drops it in the post with a note about the program. This one is done all around the wrold and they have sent out hundreds of thousands of angels and smiley faces. They do the smiley faces for kids. It may seem silly, but I think it's a marvelous gesture and a tangible reminder that you are loved and that your life is valuable. If I knew where you'd live, I'd crochet one for you myself. |

31 Mar 05 - 08:19 PM (#1448485) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: hilda fish My thoughts and hope with you too...... and here's something from Elliot from Four Quartets that in times such as where you are have meant something to me. May mean nothing to you but someone dear sent it to me with goodwill and care, and I send it to you in the same way: I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope For hope would be hope for the wrong thing: wait without love For love would be love of the wrong thing: yet there is faith But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought; for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing Whisper of running streams and winter lightening. The wild thyme unseen and the wild strawberry, The laughter in the garden, echoed ecstasy Not lost, but requiring, pointing to the agony of death and birth. |

04 Apr 05 - 06:47 AM (#1451515) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: GUEST,Mingulay at work Only just picked up this thread, so I'm a bit late in posting. Very much "been there before" which I know doesn't help, but I always remember my dad's words back in '83 when you were having a very rough time just before he died. "She'll be alright boy" was what he said, and to date, mainly, he's been right. Hope things go well. Blessed be P |
04 Apr 05 - 06:24 PM (#1452085) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: Zany Mouse To all my good Catter friends I've had results of all my tests now and things look quite good (or as near good as cancer can ever be). The cancer is at the site (mainly) of a break I had last Summer when I fell into the bath. It is confirmed as being a PRIMARY cancer and is so far confined to my left hand. I'm starting treatment tomorrow and it will be reviewed on more or less a weekly basis. They are confident that this is highly treatable. I have a poor health track record but I'm still here, at 53, and have every intention of making it to a ripe old age. While I'm writing I would like to say that our National Health Service comes in for a lot of criticism but I have found that, in an emergency, they really pull out all the stops. Thanks again for all the positive vibes and prayers and I'll be PMing everyone in a few days. So, I'll see some of you around the festivals SOON. Can we have another Miskin please? I think that has to be my favourite. Andy, can you manage a second one at Christmas perhaps? Luv to all Rhiannon |

04 Apr 05 - 07:07 PM (#1452121) Subject: RE: BS: Positive thoughts please From: PoppaGator Best wishes ~ sorry I didn't see this sooner. It's just about a year since I completed treatment for my own cancer. Like you , I was given a very hopeful prognosis right from the start, and my treatment was indeed successful. I think it's extremely helpful if you, the patient, can maintain a positive attitude, and of course that's much easier when the doctors are giving you nothing but encouraging news. So, please do everything you can to keep you own thoughts exclusively and superlatively positive! |
