01 Apr 05 - 05:21 AM (#1448735) Subject: BS: Bush to close Mudcat From: Roger the Skiffler In a press statement today (April 1st), George Bush announced that he was withdrawing technical support to the Mudcat Cafe to allow it to die a natural death. "It is only being sustained by the hot air of a vociferous minority of pointy-headed liberals and pinko agitators including some from Europe and abroad" the President said. "As they threaten all we hold dear (Big Oil, Mom and Apple Pie) with subversive activities, we believe all support should be withheld". In a surprise message of solidarity Charles Windsor agreed "These bloody people... I hate them: guitars, banjos, accordians, bloody Morris dancers, kazoos, washboards, ghastly...." A White House spokesperson Avril Poisson said that Starbucks would be taking over the bandwidth left vacant and Humphrey Smith would be put in charge of their music policy with Dave Bulmer as their legal advisor. Harry Fox refused to comment. In an unrelated announcement the Department of Homeland Security announced an import ban on an Irish product O'Seamus Bin Liners. RtS |

Refusing to reveal the source of the intelligence Mr. Bliar said "It must be right because the Preident says so". When asked if he had pledged support for the War on Folk after meeting the President at a Girls Aloud concert the Prime Minister replied that "the weight of history hangs off my guitar strap". The Maid of Mount Cisco refused to comment. |

Harry Fox did cause Mudcat some problems a few years ago. I think it ended up with a few songs being removed from the online dt. |

Who is the rat, the snitch, the anti-social fink who told the Bush cabinet about the Mudcat?? We know that Bush wouldn't come up with it on his own. 01 Apr 05 - 12:42 PM (#1449173) Subject: RE: BS: Bush to close Mudcat From: Avril Betts I think that president Bush is a very nice man. there have been some very rude comments made about him on Mudcat, and after all the nasty things that were said about me last year, I feel I must support him. That lizard El Geko said he wanted to go out with me, and I waited in the rain for hours, but he never turned up. I'm sure Mr Bush would never have treated me like that. I have now given up folk singing and joined a goup of over-fifties exotic Belly Dancers - so I hope that Mr Bush is successful. |

02 Apr 05 - 01:21 PM (#1450147) Subject: RE: BS: Bush to close Mudcat From: DougR Ebbie: I think it likely that Bush discovered the Mudcat by accident. Or perhaps Karl Rove or Dick Cheany was asked to check up on the website by Bush. You see, Bush contacted me shortly after the last land-slide election and asked me, as an old Medicine Show performer in Texas, where he might finds the lyrics to "Polly Wolly Doodle." I told him to check out the database of lyrics on the Mudcat and one search probably led to another. Noting the BS threads, he may have discovered a thread or two that was a bit critical of him. That's my guess anyway. DougR |
