I have no problem with the merits of SJ, who I would gladly see anytime (I'm still considering going to see him on Sunday as it happens). And my respect for breezy is know to be boundless.

But what's the point of Joe setting up the editable club Permathreads to prevent proliferation of short-term advertising threads if you go and put up short-term advertising threads as well. Seems to defeat the object. Now I know that the prospect of one thread adverising a night is anathema to breezy, but he could stick to his usual practice of additional advertising by hijacking other threads instead of putting up new ones.

Which reminds me, that if I do come on Sunday, I won't be playing any of the classical guitar duets that I'll be playing in Chesterfield on June 4th with Janet Quick, a concert which will include some of my arrangements of Northumbrian folk songs for classical guitar duet.

Strollin ,its all about being ourselves with like minded others!

If I hadnt set up the Strollin thread we would not have baited MCP out of his hidey hole.

It would be great to see him/you again, after all he's done so much to help get the St Albans club projects up and running through loyal support to all things folk in our area in the early days from our informal sing sessions in the Bull at Redbourn.

Must arrange another evening for him.

I owe MCP still.

Missing my favourites that I always like to hear you perform

ROFL! You must have a private jet Breezy!

Sunday's dawned bright and clear (at 5 am for me! Aaaarrrgh!). Gave me guitar its annual string-change last night, this morning I put on clean underwear (just in case I have an accident, as me mum used to say), oiled the chain on me bike, pumped me tyres up and I'm ready to go. How long will it take me to get to Snorbans on a push-bike?

I arrived home at 2.30 am, slept the sleep of the righteous, and arose refreshed, having had a lie-in until 8 am! Mrs. Johnny finally crawled out of the pit at 12.30 pm!

Thanks to everyone at The Spotlight - it's an awsome club with an unbelievably high standard of performers and joiny-inny-chorus-singists. Small but perfectly formed (as the saying goes!).
Especially impressed by The Lady In Pink and Steve doing Linda Kelly's song - outstanding! And Breezy's a great entertainer (must be all that busking!). Chris Flegg (he of the blurred right-hand and millions of flash-git chords) - jaw-dropping jazz guitar. And of course our own George (El Greko) - what can I say? Brilliant songs well sung, and a truly nice guy.

I had a great time and per-leeeeeeeeeaase have me back - I can do more!

Thanks Johnny, Chris and I love singing Northern Tide, but it was your night and as others have said already, you dunn gud as well!

But...

Keep your mits off OUR George!

Well...

Ours and Herga's and Maidenhead's and......

OK he's everybody's, it'd bee unfair to keep him to ourselves.

End of But.

I for one would be only too pleased for you to come back, so that we can hear more.

Gee, thanks for the compliment Strollin Johnny. "Lady in Pink" eh! I'm usually referred to (by Breezy) as "that bossy blonde".

As Steve said, we love "Northern Tide". We first heard it at Warwick from the ladies themselves and straight away bought the CD so we could learn it.

I second (third?) what's already been said - It was a great night and I look forward to hearing more from you - you're welcome back any time as far as I'm concerned.

Christine

Hey Steve, by 'our' I meant 'a member of The Mudcat'! But he's a big guy and I reckon there's enough of him (physically and in talent) to share around! LOL!

Chris - sorry, couldn't remember your name (one more consequence of turning in to a Daft Old Duffer, as Mrs. Johnny so eloquently refers to me :-)). Northern Tide's a great song and it was well sung on Sunday - I'll commend you to Linda next time I see her!

Thanks to everyone else for making me feel welcome and very much at home. A truly enjoyable experience, and one I certainly hope to repeat.

And last but not least - thanks to Breezy for inviting me. Thanks for having faith in me, mate - hope I lived up to it.
Time to work now................

Thanks for all the kind words Johnny (and the rest). Yes, the Spotlight from an "opportunity" club has developed within 1 year into a nice little gem. I put it down to Breezy's willingness to experiment with the Spotlight in areas where he didn't dare with the main Friday club. And as for the harmonies, Moses, The Ref, Breezy and Zorg - and me too - are all "harmony sluts". You'd have to lock us up in the basement if you didn't want to hear us trying things out.

Till the next time...
