I need to know the rest of the lyrics and the title of the song. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank You Daniel J. Drullard |
12 Dec 98 - 05:25 PM (#49198) Subject: RE: When the sun says goodbye to the meadow From: Paddy I think it is called "A Little Peace", and I think the word is mountain not meadow.
If I'm right the chorus is
A little loving, a little giving
or something like that It won the Eurovision song contest for Germany, in 19?? and the original was in German, but the singer (Nicole?) sang a few verses of the reprise in English.
Its hardly folk, but then neither is Wooden Heart
God, such useless information !.
I'm going to give up drink. Paddy |

Je ne veux penser qu'à toi Now when the Sun says good day to the mountains And the night says hello to the dawn I'm alone with my dreams on the hilltop I can still hear his voice though he's gone I hear from my door the lovesongs through the wind It brings back sweet memories of you Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes Je suis seule. Je ne veux penser qu'à toi |

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING There's a bright golden haze on the meadow There's a bright golden haze on the meadow The corn is as high as an elephant's eye, An' it looks like it's climbin' clear up to the sky. Oh, what a beautiful mornin', Oh, what a beautiful day. I got a beautiful feelin' Ev'rything's goin' my way. All the cattle are standin' like statues All the cattle are standin' like statues They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by, But a little brown mav'rick is winkin' her eye. Oh, what a beautiful mornin', Oh, what a beautiful day. I got a beautiful feelin' Ev'rything's goin' my way. All the sounds of the earth are like music All the sounds of the earth are like music The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree, And a ol' weepin' willer is laughin' at me! Oh, what a beautiful mornin', Oh, what a beautiful day. I got a beautiful feelin' Ev'rything's goin' my way. Oh, what a beautiful day! probably not what yo were looking for, but that is what comes to mind. |
24 Mar 05 - 01:28 AM (#1442262) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When the sun says goodbye to the meadow From: Jim Dixon It seems this song began its life with the title WHEN THE SUN SAYS GOODNIGHT TO THE MOUNTAIN. The words (in English) were written by Harry Pease, and the music by Larry Vincent, in 1936. There was an early recording by the British dance band Geraldo and his Gaucho Tango Orchestra, with vocalist Monte Rey. (Google gives 70+ hits with this title.) In French, it was known as QUAND LE SOLEIL DIT BONJOUR AUX MONTAGNES. The French lyrics were apparently written by Annette and Carmen Richer. There was an early recording by Lévis Bouliane and Aurèle Lacroix; a more recent one by Carole Laure. I suspect there are many more. (Google gives 600+ hits on this title.) It has only been known as THE FRENCH SONG since Lucille Starr recorded it with that title in 1964. Under that title, it has also been recorded by Stompin' Tom Connors, Jimmy C. Newman, and The Sandpipers. |

From: GUEST,leeneia Go to YouTube and search for 'When the Sun Says Goodnight' This will bring up quite a few possibilities. If you find the right tune, you can note the words. I encountered this recently on a CD from Kerry Christensen, singing it in German. 'Wann der Sonne erwacht in den Bergen.' It's a lovely tune, and he does it well, with warmth and accuracy. |
