Just don't play it! Then it will go away & we can sit & watch varnish dry, then stick pins in ours eyes & have more fun!

I thought you meant Geoff.
He did, for most of his career, but it never went away.

With a little forethought you can watch paint dry etc. while you are playing cricket. Best of both worlds.

It's better than watching synchronised swimming, I suppose. Then again, what isn't? Except perhaps underwater croquet... I always couple cricket with string quartets. Fun for the participants, and purgatory for the audience.

Well, I must say, one of the best times in my life was doing synchronized swimming one summer (1989, I think) at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, led by famed tap dancer/clogger/footwork wizard Sandy Silva.

Of course, the fact that all 50 of us were naked did help make it somewhat more interesting than the average event...

But I want to know, just what did Jiminy do that you'd want to boycott him? Poor little feller, he was so earnest and caring...and his voice sounded just like Ukulele Ike.

Aloha,
Mark

(Yes, there were photos...and I wish I had one!)

I find it doubtful that I will attend any cricket match this Summer. Or this Winter, for that matter. It's not a really big sport in Idaho. Not at all on the same level as, say, elk hunting or skeet jumping.

Well you just carry on elk-hunting and skeet-jumping (whatever the feck that is - so popular outside Idaho that no-one's ever heard of it) and leave the cricket to those of us with the intellect to understand it! The absolute last thing cricket needs is to be latched on to and ruined by the Americans - look at the mess they made of rugby and rounders!

Boycott boycott threads on the Mudcat. Or at least, let's not start a rash of them.

I think it would great if the Yanks took to cricket! They would certainly liven up what is essentially a stupefyingly boring, dull, tedious waste of grass! Imagine it with cheerleaders and advertisement breaks every twelve minutes, fab!

All right, if it will please you. I shall.

Me too. I have no problems with particular Boycot and will participate to the fullest of my ability.

Ted, we could always introduce a fox into the proceedings! LOL!
Cheerleaders? Are they the nubiles in short skirts who kick their legs in the air? Hmmmmmmmm! Maybe letting the US loose on it isn't such a bad idea!

PS - Suzanne Dando was a wonderful addition to the attractions at the England v. Zimbabwe one-day match at Trent Bridge a couple of seasons ago! Thoroughly approved!

I've always ignored cricket, anyway. I've always ignored sport in general, really...

But Boycott cricket was always very slow. But if he got past 10, there was a strong likelihood that he had got his eye in and would go for the century.

And always worth watching. But so were many others - Botham cricket to name but one (unless you were a poor bastard Aussie...)

Chris tavare and geof Boycott - those were the days, well what with the west Indies bowlers walking half a mile to take a run up - it seemed like days, sometimes
