27 Apr 05 - 02:17 AM (#1472013) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: The Shambles I ask myself - is this thread about music? And I answer - no it is about accordions. So that is alright then......... |
27 Apr 05 - 02:21 AM (#1472014) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: Bob Bolton G'day davetnova, The Klingen Valley (German: Klingenthal) is an important centre for the production of early German accordions, bandoneons and Konzertinas. I think it ended up running across the borders in the East/West Germany era ... and it's around the area of Saxony. I don't know if, post WallFall, it is a pilgrimage centre for German Trakkies! Regards, Bob |

27 Apr 05 - 07:42 AM (#1472195) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: Bee-dubya-ell Pauline L - In the beginning, there was Star Trek. Star Trek begat "Trekkers" (aka "Trekkies" though the term is generally considered derogatory). Role-playing is an integral part of the Trekker lifetyle and some Trekkers have assumed the roles of Klingons. A fair number of the faux-Klingons are so into their roles that they truly believe they have become Klingons. Since the poor individuals so afflicted have no social life outside of their Trekker subculture, they have filled their empty hours by developing their own spurious language. It appears that someone who works at Google is a Trekker and has translated Google's opening screen into Klingon, just as it has been translated into French, Portugese etc. |
27 Apr 05 - 09:05 AM (#1472268) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: GUEST,Data There are no documented incidences of a Klingon oppressing an accordian in Federation space; however, they are often found leaning quite heavily on other Terran instruments. Klingon women in particular appear to enjoy keeping abreast (or two) on the (musical) situation. |
27 Apr 05 - 09:37 AM (#1472297) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: robomatic Just remember that Klingons play the accordion, sure, to kill. For more information on Klingon language, visit the Klingon Language Institute and you can purchase "Hamlet" in the original Klingon. www.kli.org I learned all about Klingons while donating for the Klingon blood drive in Anchorage. |

If that doesn't help, then try "Trekkies 2", or read "Get a Life" by William Shatner. All have great entertainment value, if nothing else. |
27 Apr 05 - 10:47 AM (#1472366) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: John Hardly I will kling to the hope that I never hear one. Beer Barrel Polka will never be the same. Funny, that used to be the old banjo/accordian/bass guitar joke... You know that the accordian will die off....there are no accordian players on the Enterprise. another joke bites the dust. |
28 Apr 05 - 07:55 AM (#1473041) Subject: RE: BS: Klingons play accordions From: GUEST,Nellie Clatt actually the klingons think they are having a conversation, NOT making music, which is a word that doesn't go well with the word ' accordion ' |
