'Eminence' upright bass

Caveman Short would like to audition one of these acoustic/electric, slimline bass's without have to travel too far out of East Yorshire. Does anyone have one that he could try, or is there a dealer that could offer help? They appear more popular in the USA but that's too far to travel!

As he's only 4'6'' tall shouldn't you be looking at upright cellos instead?

Good point Ted, but we will provide him with his own harriWatts band stool (That's stool Ted not stool!). His hands make up for his lack of reach.

We are a forward thinking ensemble Tedward - size does not come into it.

Inclusion the true path

I still await serious input to the request. God bless America. I'm now playing Thriller by Michael Jackson. What a talent.

HPB - a chat to Bassic might be a good idea - he being a bass player and living not too far from the Peoples Republic of Yorkshire!!

Have a look (if they're available) at the pics from the Yorkshire Gathering in the YG threads, from last month.... Bassic has a wicked electric bass there, made from driftwood and stuff.... cool looking beast and the bass wasn't bad either!

Thank you for your input LTS. We were at Robin Hood's Bay with Bassic last weekend and his acoustic Fender Bass got much use. Caveman Short is keen to try other bass models, especially the Eminence.

Can't help with an Eminence but I have a Bridge Cetus Double Bass if you're interested in trying one. I'm in Derby.

But then Paul Bridgewater who makes Bridge instruments is only in Sleaford.

Have you tried the Music Shop in Cleckheaton? Be careful - Cleckheaton is like Brigadoon and is only there on certain weekends of the year..... Cleckie festival is coming up in about 2-3 weeks... catch it then or you may not see it until Christmas!

The Eminence will play acoustically. The Bridge has to be plugged-in. LTS, it's a couple of years since I entered the Music Shop in Cleckheaton. They carried a nice selection of instruments.

"The unamplified sound of the Eminence is great for practising in the hotel room or if you have sensitively neighbours. Played amplified, the Eminence with its acoustic body sounds like a larger acoustic double bass". From http://www.jonaslohse.de/eminence1_GB.html

The Bridge also has a hollow body and I find it loud enough for quiet practice. Then again it doesn't have the detachable neck option.

Hi Mitch,

I was wondering how you like the Bridge Cetus bass. I am just about to have them build me one and send it over here for me to try on a trial basis, but was wondering what you felt about it since you own one.

I've played an Ampeg baby bass before, but because I'm 6'4", it seemed a bit small for me and I've been looking for a double bass size Electric upright, (one that doesn't require a retractable post but rather sits on the floor like a double bass) and the Cetus bass seems to be the only one that fits the bill.

I'd really appreciate your opinion on it. I haven't seen one here in the states. Please send to my e-maul address if you can so I don't miss it in the forum. ChasFL@tampabay.rr.com

Thanks Mitch, I really appreciate it.
