Can anyone ID this bit of verse? It was given to schoolchildren in the 1930's as a piece to memorize. My relative who asked about it can only recall this much:

Windy March is blowing, with all its might.
Brooks are overflowing with foam all white.
Though it's cold as winter, snowy, blowy,
...

I'm not getting anything out of the search engines. I would kind of like to find out what happens next in this little versicle. If it jogs anyone's memory. Thanks

I've been searching for this piece as well. We sang this in elementary school in Huntington Mills PA in the mid 1960's. You have the first three lines. I think it continues:
Little Pussy Willow came to town last night.
Pussy wore her mittens of light gray fur,
Downy as a kitten's they surely were

"Such a cunning midget, roughy, fluffy,
Little pussy willow won't you please to purr. "

A friend remembers this song & recalled this additional verse. I've been searching for a songbook from the '30's with this and other elementary school type songs from that era. Songbooks don't seem to have the same interest among collectors as reading primers of the same vintage. The song titles don't even show up on search engines, and I don't have the title of the book, so it's been rough going. Glad I was able to find this thread. Take care.

Is it possible that some e-mails to Teacher Unions and Associations in the eastern States might lead to an answer for you?

Looks like Vantaray found the book! See here.

The whole thing:

Windy March is blowing, with all her might,
brooks are overflowing, with foam all white,
though it's cold as winter, snowy, blowy,
little Pussy Willow came to town last night.

Pussy wore her mittens of light gray fur,
Downy as a kitten, they surely were,
such a cunning midget, roughy, fluffy,
little Pussy Willow won't you please to purr.

Thanks all!!

From First Year Music by Hollis Dann (New York: American Book Company, 1914), page 38, where it appears with an arrangement for piano and one voice:

LITTLE PUSSY WILLOW
Words, Harvey Worthington Loomis. Music, Arthur Edward Johnstone.

1. Windy March is blowing with all his might.
Brooks are overflowing with foam all white.
Tho' it's cold as winter, blowy, snowy,
Little pussy willow came to town last night.

2. Pussy wore her mittens of light gray fur.
Downy as a kitten's they surely were.
Such a cunning midget, ruffy, fluffy,
Little pussy willow, won't you please to purr?

I have:
"Little Pussy Willow
Comes in early spring
gray and soft and downy,
She's a lovely thing,
though cold March winds are blowing...",
but what else?

My mother sang this song to me when I was a little girl. I am now 89 years young. I’ve been searching for these lyrics for a long time. It’s one one of the happy me memories that I have of my mom. Thanks so much. Lorraine
