And then of course there's Alanabit in Koln (Cologne). PM either or both to see what they might be able to do for you. |

09 Jul 05 - 02:56 PM (#1519067) Subject: RE: Folk Music In/Near Berlin & Munich From: Joe Offer I was hoping to make it to Berlin this year, but it didn't work out. I lived in Lichterfelde West when I was stationed in Berlin in 1972-73, and I've been wanting to go back and see what Berlin is like without a wall around it. Are there places in Berlin to hear German folk music other than drinking songs, or is all the "folk music" in Berlin in the English language? I'm hoping to get to Berlin in the summer of 2006, and stay for a week or two. I'm looking for lodging ideas, and for places to find various types of music. -Joe Offer- |
09 Jul 05 - 04:51 PM (#1519131) Subject: RE: Folk Music In/Near Berlin & Munich From: Ernest Joe, most of the folk music is indeed in English (as far as I know). There are a few bands who slip in a German song or two, and a few bands who are doing German stuff (often singer-songwriter, sometimes pan-european dance tunes). A lot of Klezmer, if you file that under folk. PM me when you know exactly when you are coming over and I will try to help you find music and lodgings. Since it is quite a time in the future I can`t promise anything now, but we will see. Would be nice to meet you! Ernest |
