BS: Pensacola beach cam needs fixing

If anyone's in Pensacola, can you please go round and fix the beach cam? It's stuck on Sunday, and only shows a still shot of grey skies and wet weather - did the hurricane wreck it? I liked the view from that beach cam - it probably only needs a slight tap with a hammer....

Ha! That's exactly where the eye of Hurricane Dennis came ashore.

I'm sure that fixing the beach cam is prioritized somewhere among the first one or two thousand tasks of recovery. Well, maybe five or ten...

What's the URL? I'd be curious to take a look at the last still image before the camera was blown to smithereens.

Yeah... the camera's probably in Kentucky by now.

Just added this to my list of 'favorites' so I can check when it's back up and running. The first thing I do every morning on my computer is open www.nyebeach.com and click on the bay front camera so I can see what home looks like. Gotta get my ocean fix every day!

PoohBear - I like the sound effects on your nyebeach.com webcam. However, if you want to see streaming video on a webcam, have a look at the Chester Roman Ampitheatre dig on www.chester.gov.uk - click on Chester Ampitheatre project on the r.hand side of the site. I think you'll agree that although there are no sound effects, streaming video is a lot more watchable than still shots that refresh every 20 secs - and you can see how they're getting on with the dig although in this hot weather there doesn't seem to be much digging going on....

Cheers

Well in the meantime if anyone needs an ocean fix, you can check out the livecam on Racerocks near me. Unfortunately it is a bit cloudy today and I can't hear the sea lions, but there's still a lot of gulls about.

I'm about an hour northeast of Pensacola Beach. I'd slip over and fix that Webcam for ya, Arnie, but you can't get there right now unless you can prove you're a resident, business owner/manager, or a contractor working for one of the above.

Maybe I'll install a Webcam up here in the Jay area (aka Floribama, aka Bubbaland). It can pan from the north and west sides of my house where there are still a fair number of trees over to the south and east sides where Ivan and Dennis have conspired to knock 90+% of them flat. We're trying to figure out how to rotate the house 90 degrees clockwise so the view from the deck will be of something besides stumps and weeds.

Bee-dubya-ell - glad to hear it's just the trees that were knocked flat and NOT you or your house. I imagine you could find a very creative house moving team (and plumbers and electricians) and rotate the house, but it might be cheaper to just be patient and wait for stuff to re-grow. (Besides, no sooner do you turn the house than something will happen to the new view!)
