BS: Carol C .or Dianavan?

Subject: BS: Carol C .or Dianavan?
From: dianavan

I started this thread because there have been several posts referring to the two of us as if we are of one mind. No offence, Carol C, but I think it is important for others to know that we are not good buddies and have never met. In fact, there have been several occasions where we have disagreed.

So basically thats it. We cannot be painted with the same brush. If you disagree with me, please direct your response to me. If you disagree with Carol C, please address her. I am growing weary of seeing our names linked when there is no link whatsoever.

I agree with you on this one, dianavan. However, I think that the people who are doing that are just trolling for an emotional response from both of us (two birds with one stone, so to speak).

Do both of you gals have the same problem: finding a hat that fits?

Although I also have noticed that people who don't actually have a legitimate point to make, and those who are attempting to defend the indefensible, will try to commit character assassination against those with whom they disagree. This is because that's all they've got to work with.

There have been some people recently that have targeted both of you, as well as various UK catters, on the recent threads about the London bombings. It has been a pain that discussion after these awful events has been tainted by guests targeting various catters.

McGrath of Harlow's comment is worth repeating:

"Always remember, the people doing the bombing, and the racists and sectarians stirring away in the aftermath have a shared agenda. They both want to set people against each other on the basis of religion or "race"."

Generalisations are always dangerous. But generally, I find both of you to be very different from each other!!

"commit character assassination"

If that ain't the pot calling the kettle...

Great one, freda. That belongs in the Mudcat Gallery of Quotes.

I can't imagine confusing CarolC and Dianavan. CarolC is a compulsvive with a very focussed agenda. Dianavan, on the other hand, can't think straight enough to have an agenda beyond hating Americans and Israelis.

Doc Phil,

You must forgive dianavan. Sometime back, Canadian doctors replaced her brain with strawberry jello.

Both women have contributed intelligent and informative posts to Mudcat.

Why is it that the preceding ignorant remarks seem to be coming from men?

I've known CarolC from several years interchange of views on the Mudcat and have never found her anything but considered and intelligent in her observations (with which I generally find myself agreeing). Unfortunately I've never yet met her or JtS in person but hope to sometime on visiting the US.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of conversing with Dianavan on Mudcat but that day will surely come.

Once again I also find myself agreeing with Frank Hamilton.

Peace

moo

Hmmm. I thought this meant I was supposed to decide which one I wanted to date...

I guess not.

All righty then. ;-)

Re: Clinton Hammond. It's almost impossible to commit character assassination on Clinton. Many have tried. Few have succeeded.

I wish to add as a postscript that I have a high opinion of both Dianavan and Carol C, but do not consider them to be identical or even close to identical.

They are both obviously bright, which is a nice change and they are both very passionate in what they believe, which is laudable.

However, if you've read their postings, you'd have to be egit to think they were one and the same.

Oh, I forget to mention, they both generally wrong, but that's another thread :-)

Both are strong-minded and female, and the two together often rub people the wrong way. It's a gender bias.

Well, I had a slight altercation with CarolC recently, but we agreed to differ and it ended there. Personally, I have found myself agreeing with her positions, and those of dianavan, more often than not; I believe myself to be on their side of the fence, broadly speaking, even though I find they tend to reach conclusions a little bit quicker than I do. But still, I think they are erudite, educated and have some good points to make.

And no, it never occured to me that they might be one and the same; this kind of reaction smacks of "pigeonholing" and has little to commend it.

I don't think most these days their knickers in a twist at the idea that there are women can actually argue coherently, and don't back down when challenged and insulted. But there are some. Too many. One would be too many.

We really need Shane (BDiBR) to weigh in on this discussion. ;-)

(Mind you, he seems to like intelligent, capable women. Shania Twain and Officer Dana both give the impression of being quite intelligent and capable. It may be that they represent in Shane's mind an irresistible challenge...an Everest that he yearns to climb some day...the heady possibility of moving up to a whole new level in romance that completely surpasses the meagre rewards of seducing terminally dumb bargirls who are so drunk that they really have no idea what they're doing at the time....or with whom.)

Thanks for the kind words and comments. I should have known everyone would have an opinion but I didn't intend this to be a popularity contest. I meant it to be a declaration of fact.

It was beginning to look like Carol C and I were conspiring to get our point(s) across and when others began referring to us in the same breath, I thought it was time to set the record straight.

Thanks again, I will continue to try to figure out the meaning of our crazy world and try to illicit as much response as possible. I do have a change of heart now and again.

Oh, and Littlehawk, if you're ever in Vancouver, we can make a date for coffee if you send me a PM. I'm probably more than a little too old for you but I still enjoy meeting new people.

Joe can close this thread, anytime. Its starting to be a little embarrassing.

Here is what 'activities director' Joe Offal had to say about 'The Boobsey Twins':

"OK, Carol. The only things I know about you are that you are a very nice person to be with and deal with in person. I also know that time and time again, you are right in the middle of the nastiest fights that take place here at Mudcat, and that causes a big problem. I don't know why you seem to be driven to do that, because it is not at all like you are in person. You do seem to make a lot of noise when things don't go your way - whether that's "squealing like a stuck pig" is a matter of opinion, I guess.

I also know that I have repeatedly asked you not to fight, and you have continued to do so.

That's all I know, and all I have to say. I'm sorry that I said anything else. I didn't lie, though - I stated my impression. Whether my impression is correct or not, is a matter of opinion. The fact of the matter is that you fight, constantly, and that it causes a big problem here at Mudcat. Exactly what is it you want me to apologize for?

If you stop fighting, I will be satisfied. That's all I want from you, that you be the nice person that you are when people see you face-to-face."

-Joe Offer-

"And as for Dianavan, "turning the other cheek" and religious values have nothing to do with anything in this matter. The issue is that fighting with trolls makes matters infinitely worse. Fighting with trolls doesn't work, no matter how valid the justification for fighting may be. Same goes for you, Carol and Ron, and for everybody else."
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope I can get by without having to say anything else in this thread. The only point I have to make is that it's time to stop fighting with trolls, as we have requested so often before. I don't care if you call them trolls or bullies - just leave them alone.
-Joe Offer-

It is undoubtedly true that fighting with trolls is pointless and counterproductive. Be that as it may, pdq, I do not see you spreading much useful light in this discussion. I think you are prejudiced against the 2 gals because their politics are different from yours. Why else drag out old stuff like that?

Little Hawk...Mudcat should be an open forum where diversity of opinion is shared. These two "Fascists With Boobs" relentlessly attack good people who hold informed and well supported opinions. It is time to stand up to all Mudcatters who try to drive other members off the forum based on their religious, political or
personal opinions. I miss Beccy, tar_heel, Louie Roy, banjoman,
Jeep Man, and 100 other members who no longer feel comfortable at Mudcat. Don't you miss some of them also?
