Betsy asked during his spot "Where there any mudcatters in the audience" the answer was apparently a resounding no. I had been dismissed for beer and missed the question and my only claim to fame. |
18 Aug 05 - 07:01 PM (#1545227) Subject: RE: Review: Anybody go to Saltburn From: Col K There were over 20 mudcatters at Saltburn over the weekend, many of whom signed in and some who did not. Among those who did was Alaska Mike, who really enjoyed his short visit to Saltburn. Saltburn was great as usual, thanks to JT and the team. |

19 Aug 05 - 12:39 AM (#1545449) Subject: RE: Review: Anybody go to Saltburn From: GUEST,weelittle drummer I was there but I got a cold and had to go home early. I thought it was a lovely town and a nice atmosphere at the events I did go to. I'm hoping to go again next year. having to go home early the wristband at £44 wasn't really very good value, but I had decided to enter the songwriting competition so I felt sort of committed to that after driving an umpteen miles there. Having snuffled my way through that I was ready for home. highlight of the festival for me was the workshop on beginners bodhran - loved it. couldn't get seats for the concert with Stitherum, but the PA system for that one and the marine hotel seemed adequate. you could do with a few more fringe events (perhaps some more music in the other pubs) and I didn't see anybody flogging cds apart from the artists which is something I look forward to at any festival - a good folk cd retailer. a good effort from the organisers though |
19 Aug 05 - 06:21 AM (#1545554) Subject: RE: Review: Anybody go to Saltburn From: GUEST,Sooz sans cookie Our Friday concert at the Marine Hotel was absloutely packed, Al. You would have had no trouble getting into the Fringe event on Saturday evening in Loftus Town Hall though! We (Stitherum and Bram Taylor) entertained a very select audience indeed although they were very appreciative. It was a last minute addition and didn't appear in the programme booklet. The sound guys were brilliant in both gigs. Mike came home with a cold as well but that was a small price to pay for a really good weekend. Sorry to have missed Alaska Mike - we never found the "signing in" department. I did have a hug from Betsy at the Friday concert. |
