30 Aug 05 - 12:17 PM (#1552853) Subject: RE: Hull Shanty Festival - 3 & 4 Sept 2005 From: Blowzabella I went last year and thoroughly emjpyed myself - despite being stood up by Sir John, who never replied to my texts!!! (Mutter - said battery flay, mutter - heard that before!) Can thoroughly recommend Les Souilles de Fond Du Cale (sp?)- from Brittany - brilliant blokes, with a touch of je ne sais quoi! Doubt I'll get there this year as I've only just arrived back from the high seas myself, and need to catch up with things a bit - and always have dog to consider (who, embarrassingly, howls at shanties!) Hope it goes well xx |

02 Sep 05 - 10:30 AM (#1554770) Subject: RE: Hull Shanty Festival - 3 & 4 Sept 2005 From: Les from Hull There's nothing in the programme about a session in the White Hart - has someone had a word with the landperson? If there's a problem, we should be welcome in the Oberon. I'll be in the Oberon about eightish with my mobile phone on so we can communicate between pubs if necessary. Call me if there's a problem (this message goes to Hull folk who have my number - oh yes, ducky, we've all got your number!). There will be a Saturday evening session in the Oberon for those people who are not concert-bound, and Dean the landlord says that he will be cooking meals until about 8 o'clock, which is about the time that the session should start. The Oberon (which was called the Cask and Cutter for some time) is in between the Heritage and the Minerva, on Queen Street very close to the Humber. |
02 Sep 05 - 02:13 PM (#1554952) Subject: RE: Hull Shanty Festival - 3 & 4 Sept 2005 From: Les from Hull The White Hart are expecting people, and there's grub laid on. I've just had a wobble round with the Compost Heap lads - Bob, Rob and Alan - and nevertheless we're still meeting up at the Oberon at 8 o'clock. Feel free to join us 'cos we think the room's a bit better and the beer's a bit better, but we may join go up to the White Hart if the Oberon doesn't get quorate. |
