07 Sep 05 - 11:14 PM (#1558734) Subject: Lyr Req: When My Baby Does Her Double Talk To Me From: Eve Goldberg Hello Mudcatters! I haven't been hanging around much these days - I hope to be around more in the near future. But, I'm looking for lyrics that I can't find anywhere else on the internet -- and who better to ask than Mudcatters? I'm looking for complete lyrics (and chords if available) for "When My Baby Does Her Double Talk to Me" which I believe was written by Merle Travis (I know he made a recording of it, but I'm not completely sure he wrote it). The part I remember goes: When my baby does her double talk to me I get just as happy as I can be [Maybe a few more lines in here] And everytime I hold her hand We're in another land With a language only we can understand [a few more lines in here] It's only the one verse, but it gets repeated with funny "secret language" variations, like: When my bail-faby does her dulla-fubble talk to meel-fee, I get just as hal-fappy as I can beel-fee And everytime I holo-fold her hal-fand We're in another lal-fand With a lal-fanguage only weel-a-feel can understal-fand (etc.) I think there may be one or two other variations. Any takers? |

He Said"(?) sung by Betty Hutton, I think - whom Bob Hope described as "a Vitamin Pill on legs!" If you haven't seen the B&W video of those old shows for The Forces - seek it out, it's worth watching for this number alone!!! Cheers! R-J |

There are no lines missing after the second line above. The missing lines after line 5 are: And when I see the lovelight shinin' in her eyes I lighten up my private paradise Then I say, 'Honey, do you love me true?' And she says, 'Now, daddy, don't you know I do' When my baby does her double talk to me As you say, the rest is nonsensical variations. --Stewie. |

And it's funny that you should mention "He Said Murder He Said" because I have seen a film reel of a woman singing that song at what looks like an Armed Forces concert. I think I was about 14, and I have no memory of where I saw it, but I have always remembered the singer and have occasionally thought about trying to track that song down -- I don't remember much about the song except that it made a huge impression on me. Any more info on that song or the singer? Eve |
