11 Sep 05 - 02:01 AM (#1560841) Subject: RE: Folk Music in Portland, Maine Vicinity? From: NH Dave Not exactly what you asked for, but there's a pick-up folk music session at The Press Room, opposite the Post Office on Daniel St., in Portsmouth, NH, every Friday evening between 4:30 PM, and around 8:30 - 9:00. We also have a monthly Shanty Sing at the same place one weekend of each month. If this is anything you think you'd like I can give you beter directions or a map. Dave |
11 Sep 05 - 07:19 AM (#1560939) Subject: RE: Folk Music in Portland, Maine Vicinity? From: kendall There is also a gathering at the Side Door in Brunswick, I think it's the third Friday of each month. There is also a more or less private one in South Portland each month. If you play banjo and are not a republican you might be invited LOL |
11 Sep 05 - 09:24 AM (#1560983) Subject: RE: Folk Music in Portland, Maine Vicinity? From: SINSULL John, I host a Song Circle once a month in South Portland. PM me for details but you will have to become a member to access PMs. It is free. It can be anywhere from 6 to 20 people depending on the weather. Overnight accomodations are available. And if you play the banjo, you get first choice of chairs even if you are a Republican. So there, Kendall! The Acoustic Cafe in Portland offers folk, blues and singer song-writers. They have open mikes as well. SINS |

From: Charley Noble The Sidedoor Coffeehouse is taking place this Friday, and every 3rd Friday, at the Unitarian Church in Brunswick on Pleasant St., across from the Post Office. Sign-up for the open mike is at 7 pm sharp and you'd have 8 minutes to present a couple of songs or tunes. A featured performer begins at 9 pm. Admission is about $5. It's generally a great listening audience. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
