11 Oct 05 - 11:57 AM (#1581026) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: Fortunato It sort of like a movie, you see...picture it. Long range shots of folks through the windows of their houses and flats, packing their suitcases and leaving notes for the neighbors to water the cat. Closeups as they're checking their tickets and phoning for cabs and wondering if they'll come on time. Cutaway to friends driving them to the airport, Heathrow or Fairbanks, and hugging them goodbye. Thinking aloud: "Have I forgotten anything? Picks, guitar straps (wink), concertina? Trying to remember mudcat names, like "geoff the duck"? "Leadfingers"? "Bobert"? "CatPHizzle, er, Piddle, er, PHiddle"? And picturing their photos on the website. There's Micca on the plane snoring like a banshee in tourist class after three glasses of wine... Then they pull up to Fortunato's and see the sign on the porch: "There's Folk Music Tonight". And the Getaway is hours away. |
11 Oct 05 - 12:27 PM (#1581058) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: John MacKenzie I take it that this is a work of fiction Fortunato? Now if you'd said 3 bottles ! Giok ☺ |
11 Oct 05 - 01:52 PM (#1581118) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: Ebbie You just about captured what's going on at my house, Chance. Except that my cat is going to a neighbor's for the duration. I took him over there yesterday and introduced him to my friends' cat and dog. The two cats got along fine- their cat, much younger than my old gentleman - followed archy around wherever he explored and old archy never growled once. Different story when the dog came on the scene. archy climbed the topmost platform of their cat scratch post peering down at the awed dog. One unfortunate bit of timing occurred this week when some friends showed up in town. I hadn't seen them since they moved to Washington state and this was their first trip "home" to attend their son's father in law's funeral. I'll be gone most of the time that they are here but I've gotten to play with them three times at this point and went out to dinner with them last night. We plan to meet and play together one more time tonight. Just the way it goes. Tomorrow! Can hardly believe it. |
11 Oct 05 - 02:19 PM (#1581133) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: Fortunato Ah, well, Giok, I'm known for my tendancy to understatement when it comes to alchohol. Why the last time Micca was here, he hardly had a drop. We were as sober as judges the entire time, with only an occasional drink or two to keep away the chill of the evening... Reminds me, Giok, I've got to go buy a case or two of cider for the bridal couple. We're almost out of rum, and the gins getting low as well, I'm off. cheers |
11 Oct 05 - 02:24 PM (#1581138) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: John MacKenzie Well I'd love to be there, but we're in Big Mick's hands as he's been kind enough to offer to pick us up on Thusday evening, and it's a long drive for him to get to the airport. Giok |

Perhaps we'll have just one little drink to celebrate our first annual reunion. We'll force Micca to choke down one as well. cheers chance |
11 Oct 05 - 09:33 PM (#1581474) Subject: RE: Fortunato's Pre-Getaway Jam From: Fortunato Well, catsPIzzlee, don't forget "my tendancy to understatement when it comes to alchohol". He was, as I recall, upright on those occasions at which it was appropriate to be so, and, according to some, inappropriately dressed at whiles, however, on the whole, he was the soul of decorum as defined by me. This may explain a tolerance of each other's company, however. Or perhaps I digress? See you Thursday , MS PHiddlee |
