BS: Vacation v. DeeVorce

From: Bobert

Well, well, well...

'Bout a month ago I was given a choice: vacation 'er else!!!

Hey, "'er else" din'd sound like too much fun so I elected the "vacation" route so I sent on line and arranged a week at Rehobeth Beach, Delaware and me and the P-Vine just retruned and here is what I have relearnt 'bout vacations:

They ain't nuthin' but an exercise of a womanz power over a man... Yeah, every danged liitle joint that pops up on the highway that the womanz wants to see gets see'd... Every rsturant that the womanz wants to eat at gets eat at.... Every liottle romantic scenerio that the womans has dreamt up get lived out...

Meanwhile, the poor ol' man get's to pull out the crrdit card over and over and over (again)....

Well, I started this thread as a "verses" thread and that's really what it amounts to... Now Iz sure that lotta Mudcatters will jump in and say "It ain't so" but those who have lived long 'nuff and been in the trenches will know exactly what Iz has postulated is nuthin' but the truth...

With that said, think I'll go to bed... Iz all wored out with all this vacationin', thank you...

BObert

Isn't P-Vine lucky that she has you there with your handy billfold and that plastic?

Good boy. Sit. Stay. See, isn't that easy? :)

Ha!

I hope you had fun.

Sleep tight.

Ya shoulda gone to Bethany Beach and et at Bethany Blues. That way you coulda supported my cousin-in-law and his three children. Now, because you didn't go there, the poor little kids will have to go out on the street to beg and will probably freeze to death in some alley after they use all their matches in an attempt to keep warm. Their poor mother will linger for a while, pining for her lost children, and then the consumption that will be wracking her frail body will free her spirit to join her little angels. Meanwhile their father will fall into Drink and eventually wind up perishing in the gutter, spat upon and despised by all who see him, while little knowing of the heartache he suffered because you and the P-vine went to Rehobeth instead of Bethany Beach.

You oughta be ashamed!

Don't fret Bobert, you still have some measure of independence. It's when you arrange these things without being told to, that's when it's beyond hope.

I would continue, but I have to assume Crystal will see this, and I don't want to be in more trouble....

Good news, Rap... We spent borrowed money in Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Cape Hope, down the coast in Fenwick Island... And, we passed a mall along the way and spent borrowed money there as well...

So don't fret 'bout yer relatives... They is all jus' fine...

Campin, Kat? Have *you* met the P-Vine??? Believe me, this ain't no campin' material here...

Yes, they called last night and said that all was well because of you. Mom can afford her consumption medicine, Dad has given up the bottle and is now a deacon of the church, the two little girls and the infant son will be able to afford Harvard, Stanford, and Cambridge (respectively), they've moved into a new, 20,000 square foot house, puchased a 38 foot sailboat, and are now even eating regularily because Bobert and the P-Vine spent enough money. They bless you every minute of the day and night, even knowing that you are one of those landloard exploiters of the proletariat and imperialistic socialist commie fascist plutocrats who grind the downtrodden workers under the iron heel of capitalism.

Bobert, Bobert, Bobert....what for do you want to start running on about us Womenz again? Eh?

50 weeks of the year this womanz gets up at 5:00am, fixes breakfast, packs lunches, drives the youngin' to school, walks the dog, makes it to work on time, comes home, pays the bills, cooks supper, washes dishes, helps with homework, does laundry, mows the grass and weeds the garden, keeps hubby's business books, makes the beds, etc., etc. etc. (Hubby, God love him, mostly sits on the couch looking at lists of things and worrying...doesn't leave him much time to help out.)

Once a year, yer DAMN RIGHT I deserve a vacation, including spending money. You oughta just be grateful the P-Vine wanted you to go with her...I do my best to get a REAL vacation and go off by myself.

Janie the "W-O-M-A-N."

Bobert, if'n you'd lived a more rattletrap life, you would know that every marriage comprises a stay-at-home spouse and a going-away spouse. Now chez Thomas, the stay-at-home spouse is the female one (me), while Himself spends most of his idle hours -- I swear -- thinking up radical, expensive ways to be hundreds of miles away from the most comfortable reading chair in NATO, sleeping in clammy motel beds and wondering just why in hell people who work in restaurants can't fry a gawddamned egg so it doesn't wobble when it sits on the plate.

And that's when he's not fantasizing about -- shudder -- camping. I don't know what's the matter with the man; give him more than 48 hours without a requirement to show up at the office and he wants to hit the road.

For those of us who prefer the comforts of home, the sensible thing to do is to let the world-traveller think up the plan and do the irritating stuff like finding lodgings. Then, agree to do the things you'd never let the party of the second part do anyway -- in my case, plot the route and pack the car so the load doesn't block the windows. Make sure to take something to read, and your own pillow.

There times when it's not only gracious to give in, it is the better part of valour. And I've noticed that I end up going places I would otherwise never have heard of, such as a certain hunk of sloping real estate in backwoods Maryland ...

Have I got this right: you're complaining?

Yer blood's too thin, Bobert. You need ta take a blood thickener. Thicken that there blood up and you'll be able to go on vacation fer a month, come back, pay the bills, build a house, lumber out a half a forest, play a six hour gig without stoppin' even fer the outhouse, come home and be ready and rarin' ta go agin after a short rest ya take by runnin' a four-minute mile.

Er maybe it's thinnin' ya need. Anyway, go see Granny Hite down in the holler an' she'll fix ya up with some ramp juice 'n' sidemeat grease.

I've decided that people marry their opposites consciously or not in order to counter their own biases.

I know a man who is frugal to the point of painstaking records keeping- he could tell you in a minute what he spent $2.98 on in the middle of the day last Tuesday.

His wife, on the other hand, is a let's-worry-about-that-next-month type and they keep each other in a constant uproar.

I tell my friend that when he subconsiously wished he could loosen up a bit, he forgot to put a limit on it.

Get the point, Bobby?

Ha! I know I answered your post, Bobert, but it's gone missing.

I said something like: My point is that it might be a good idea for you to be less work-oriented from time to time or at least get away from it now and again.

Remember: On your deathbed you're not going to say, Boy, I'm sure glad I worked so hard.

Hey Bobert,

Good for you...going on a vacation that you sound like maybe you didn't really want to go on...it made your wife happy...and that should make you feel GOOD!

In our household, my husband is much more of a homebody than I am. Before we were married, it was nothing for me to wake up a friend at 3am and say, HEY...ROADTRIP and off we'd go. Okay...so that was about 15 years ago and I have settled considerably. I still travel but mostly with my girlfriend or my Mom. I always have a good time...but you know what? The person I would most like to travel and have fun with is my husband! After all, he is my most favorite human being on the planet!!!!   :)

Next time, instead of dreading the hotel rooms, or money spent, think about how happy it makes the P-vine....and that should make it all worthwhile!   :)

Michelle

What I don't understand is why this woman can't take her ownself shopping? She seems like one of those dames who likes to order a man around. Kinda like marrying a good looking Margaret Thatcher. Poor bobert. Find one who likes music and camping. Dump the high maintenance one.
