I hear Cap't Bob crashed his motorcycle and got busted up. He's too nice a guy for that to happen. Say it ain't so....

Captin Bob was Robert Maxwell's nickname. Made the title rather confusing...

Presumably, that would be CAP'T BOB AS SHOWN IN MUDCAT PHOTOS, though now his name's been given without his OK.

There IS an email address in the Member Pages..... OK, I'll email and ask him to post here.

Gee Whiz!
I wish I would have known that this would create such a hub-bub, I never would have posted it. Capt Bob ( the one from WYSIWYG's post at 9:20AM )is a fine guy and musician that had his share of troubles this week. I know he's on Mudcat regularly and I was trying to wish him well. Sorry!

Capt. Bob has been a member since about late 1998. One of the first gatherings I attended was when Blessings Barbara came to her family home in Michigan from the West coast. She had a campfire sing and I drove about 6 hours to get to it. My family and I pitched a tent on the property. Cap'n Bob came up with his wife, and we sang around the campfire.

He is a good man, and the "older" Mudcatters should recognize the name. He is also a damn fine performer with a large repertoire of songs.

All the best,

Mick

Thanks, Mick. It's good to hear someone else shares my admiration for the Cap'n.

Well, it's nice we got that cleared up.

The email addy listed in Member Resources seems to be no good-- my message inquiring after him bounced back as undeliverable.

Wishing Capt. and Mrs. Bob the best, and I suppose that Maxwell fellow too, sounds like he needs it-- :~)

Golly, I think I'm a real person......
First of all leftdee it wasn't a motorcycle at all, just a wee tiny zuma motorscooter (49.9cc). Bad things happened while I was tooling along about 5mph, enjoying the fall colors on the back ten when suddenly I hit a root that was covered with about 8 inches of beautiful wet fall leaves. I went down like a ton of bricks and in the process managed to bung up my knee and break the fibula right down near the ankle.
Mick, I still have fond memories of the evening we spent singing songs on the shore of beautiful Higgins Lake with Barbra Blessings and crew. At one time I think I may have beat "Big Mick" out as being the worlds largest Leprechaun. Seems we have both lost a lot of weight since those days.
Recently I've been playing at one of the prettiest little coffee houses (also an art gallery) in the country. Located in Atlanta Michigan not far off I75.    Anyone passing through who would like to perform there might want to talk with John Zollars.   Me thinks possibly leftdee played there a while back. Check it out:

http://northwoodscoffeehouse.com/

There is a picture of a group I once played with on page two of the MUSIC PHOTOS ("Two Woofers and a Tweeter") I'm the big guy on the left.

Guess I should try to post more often ~ do a lot of lurking.....

Capt - seems like a bad year for busted ankles, you're the third I know of in as many months!

Take care and use your restup time to do more than lurking here!

Down time isn't all that bad as I've been working out a lot of new songs, listening to cd's, and playing around with the computer. If someone would just come in and rake leaves, clean the chimney, and get things ready for the winter it would make it even more enjoyable.
Thanks for all the kind comments and if you have any plans on following suit ~ it isn't all that great and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

My sis had a break like that, Cap't. She didn't rest enough and they had to rebreak it, insert pins, and heal (on her ass) all ocver again. So please, do find someone to help with the winter chores, so you can get back to proper strength.

Your former weight is actually a help in this-- weight-bearing makes for strong, dense bone, and you may find a faster healing than you might have, otherwise. Just remember-- healing, and building new bone, are hard physical work. As hard as digging ditches. So eat well and rest well. Doze off a bit anytime it seems like a good idea. It will all sort itself out.

Yes, indeed, Cap't I did play at the Northwoods Coffeehouse recently and what a place it is! It's the best venue I played all year.

And by the way, Bob, that gathering was one of the best for me as well. Hope we meet again sometime soon. Isn't there an Irish or Celtic fest up in your neck of the woods? Seems like I remember one in Harbor Springs. A natural for The Conklin Ceili Band.

All the best,

Mick

Say Mick (and any other mudcatters that might be interested),

The Cap't and some other darn fine players meet the 3rd weekend in July every year for an event known as "Bobstock", though I prefer "Bob-a-palooza" near Mio Michigan. We play and enjoy a campfire on Friday night and play and sing 'til your fingers bleed or someone falls in the fire. Saturday we set up a stage and have perfomances all day. We have anywhere from 65-120 folks show up and makes for a good weekend. Some folks camp right there or there are nearby motels for the less adventurous. We get paid off in roast chickens, hot dogs and good music. If you'd like to journey to northern lower Michigan this summer, you'd sure be welcome. Any friend of the Cap't would surely be a friend to the rest of us.

This goes for any other 'catters that might want to make a trip.
