BS: Son of Silly Secret Santa Signals 2005

The original thread was getting too weighty and taking too long to load, so I took the liberty of starting a fresh one.

Have you been getting my hints? The elves are getting mighty tired, hopping red-eye flights to far-off lands just to drop cards into distant letter boxes... The frequent flyer miles for their travel are running out too. I'm giving the reindeer extra rations of hay and grog to beef up for their big day...

Robbie Wilson's,

Do you know that on the forum page which lists the threads you can click on the number on the right hand side of the name of a thread and that takes you to the first 50 messages of that thread, and then the page gives you a row of number links to take you to the other pages of the thread. If you want to read the later messages first and the others in descending order, then click on the "d" next to the thread number.

That nifty trick was invented by the clever Mudcat elves so that one thread could be continued and new follow-up threads didn't need to be started.

I know that the numbers link and the "d" and their use is not really obvious but there is a note at the bottom of the page saying "* Click on the linked "Messages" numbers to view the thread split into pages (click "d" for chronologically descending)."

Try it and see.

Helen

Thanks for showing me that neat trick, Helen. The road to Perdition is paved with good intentions. Maybe one of the kindly clones will remove this well-intentioned but obviously unnecessary thread, and get everyone back on the road to the North pole. Thanks.

That's ok, glad to help. It isn't really clearly pointed out on the front page.

I'm sure a Mudcat elf will come and combine this one with the main thread.

Robbie Wilson

as a job-sharing elf of your SS009, I can certify that SS009 is rooly thinking about you, and I can say that it's a bumpy ride on this reindeer, but I am doing the hard yards for you.

So, whether this is the Son of Silly Secret Santa Signals, or the Mother of All Reindeerthreads, or is it threads under the beds, I urge you to be a good boy....

Santa is watching......

I've got you in my sights
Your Santa is thinking of you
Through all the days and nights
S/he's assigned me to follow your trail
The old Chisholm, or Yellow Brick, or the Garden Path
To shower you with endless good wishes--you do the math.
You can run but you can't hide,
Good thoughts and happy tidings are heading your way,
From me to you, from continents near and far, from you-know-who
With sentiments from sublime to fey.

You Secret Santa's--and your-- faithful servant
