Fiddleathon - Beverley and Hull

22 Nov 05 - 07:44 AM (#1611038)
Subject: Fiddleathon - Beverley and Hull
From: ossonflags

Jill Fisher - Fiddle player with "Punch The Horse" - will be starting her twenty four hour fiddle playing marathon at 9.00.pm on Saturday night in the "Sun" Beverley. This is to help with the Rotary Club of Hull's Tsunami Appeal to rebuild the village of Puliyadikudah in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. The target is £125,000.

All the money raised will go direct to the Rotary club of Kandi in Sri lanka and will buy materials and labour to rebuild their village. There are no administrative costs and all money raised will go direct to the building project.

There is massive support from Hull City Council, the University of Hull and other major firms around the district for this appeal.

Jill will be playing the gig with us on Saturday at the "Sun" as the curtain raiser to the fiddleathon and then will be whisked away to "Durty Nellies " in Hull were she will play throught the night and the following day.

It would be great if people could contribute financialy to this appeal, but what would be more appreciated would be your support for Jill.So if anyone can sing play recite, dance, monologue or just give her a hug get down to "Durty Nellies" on the Sunday.

If you need any more info pm me.

Osson
Might be an idea to give people an address/bank details of how they can contribute.
Cheers
Ged

Thought I had done that Ged and thought I had made meself clear.

The main reason for posting to this site is that it is read by musos and people who like and contribute to the music scene.
Although money is welcome, for some of those people to support Jill in a harrowing twenty fourhour ordeal would be greatly appreciated.

Here I come, waltzing in at the 11th hour, as per!

Temporary problem with the overnite venue, folks: 'Sun' as expected, then 'Durty Nelly's', but only until 0200 (couldn't get temporary licence).

Then (for the time being - watch this space) a (durty great) black hole until 1000, when we're back @ D.Nelly's until 2100 Sunday.

Please come and join in - should be splendid. Money's lovely, of course, and much needed, but your company would be even more welcome.

Early Xmas party for all those taking part - date to be announced. Strictly invite only!!

See you at the weekend, I hope.
xx

Many thanks for your support Richard - always a pleasure to see you.

The most up to date news is that after the gig in the "Sun" Beverley, Jill will be playing at "Durty Nellies" untill 2.00am on Sunday morning then on to some unspecified venue - we should have a better idea tomorrow on this.

She then returns to "Durty Nellies" at 10.00am and plays on for the rest of the day up to 9.00pm when she will be finished - in all senses of the word !!!

A lot of people have pledged musical support on the Sunday, this will be when she needs it most, so we will be seeing some of you at the "Durty Nellies" Sunday afternoon?

I'm really looking forward to seeing you all at the Sun, at Durty Nelly's, at Merv's house, and at Durty Nelly's again

We've raised between £1300 & £1400 (I've still got some forms to get back), which isn't a bad total. As John said last night, we've bought a house for a family!

Thanks again - you were all brilliant!
