I've got new bagpipes!!!

Hummelchen by Sean Jones of Biddulph, Staffordshire UK. Simple, mouth blown, one drone, one octave, light to play, small stretch, a sound like rather shy Northumbrian pipes.

It's hard to stop playing them, I got told off because the dinner was late last night. Got to learn a lot of early music stuff now to fit them.

Don't let the knockers and begrudgers get to ya, lad. You will soon know who your real friends are.

Oh. I thought I heard the faint sounds of a tortured piglet, but now I know what it was.

Congratulations to you, and my condolences to others.

Was the title...er... an invitation, or warning?

Oh, sorry, couldn't resist. Actually, I love the sound of bagpipes, and your endearing description of these Hummelchen as 'shy Northumbrian pipes' was beautifully put. Congratulations on your new accquisition, and don't forget to eat/cook in your communal bliss...

I find the thought of pipes sound "shy" intrigueing. Hope you enjoy them.

In the wrong hands, they sound like someone gathered up a dog fight and threw it into a pig pen

Don't know where you are, but out here in San Diego, we heard you & thought a giant sea serpent had gone belly up.

Congrats, Paul. It's a great feeling when you get a new set of pipes and they smell new and feel new and you'll be one to break them in. I think I can imagine their sound from your description. I'd love to hear them.
Have fun,
D
