I scored 26 but there were a couple of questions in which I just plain goofed- knew better but clicked the wrong one. www.toast.net/games/Independence/page1.asp Hmmmm. The URL works but the clicky doesn't. |

03 Jan 06 - 04:18 PM (#1640582) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Nigel Parsons 21 from a UK perspective Trick question about who was President during the civil war, It was either Lincoln or Jefferson Davis depending on which faction you followed! CHEERS Nigel |
03 Jan 06 - 04:34 PM (#1640593) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Ebbie Not really, Nigel. The question was Who was president of the United States. Davis never was. One of the two questons I goofed on was on who declares war- sheesh. On the other two I didn't know the answers. I'd love to see a United Kingdom quiz. My guess is that I could answer perhaps 10- and they would have to be the general knowledge type. |
03 Jan 06 - 04:45 PM (#1640600) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Nigel Parsons Not quite Ebbie. I've put up a few quizzes here, so I'm careful about wording. The question was: Who was the President during the civil war? The title of the quiz was Independence Day, so there was no reason to insist that Lincoln was the expected answer. CHEERS Nigel |
03 Jan 06 - 05:04 PM (#1640614) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: gnu Who was the President during the civil war? George Bush? Oops... that's the next Civil War. (27) |

03 Jan 06 - 05:10 PM (#1640619) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Ebbie True, true, Nigel. There is a button to push if one questions any answer. I didn't go there, but it might be interesting. |
03 Jan 06 - 05:15 PM (#1640622) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Ebbie Simplistic isn't so much the word I would use, Tom, as 'factual'. I kept expecting some element of trickery but it stayed true to its format. It feels like a school quiz. |
03 Jan 06 - 09:49 PM (#1640823) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: John on the Sunset Coast In 8th grade US History I missed a test question regarding the number of amendments to the U.S. Constitution; I missed by one, forgetting that the term limit amendment for President had recently passed. That was the only question I missed on this test, tonight. If nothing else, I am at least consistant. John |

I didn't know which one was born in Texas (knw that Bush wasn't), wasn't clear about the term of a senator. Mea culpa, mea culpa. But I imagine most "average" American voters do very badly on this. |

There is the King William's Test here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,1673168,00.html You might find it a bit more difficult than the American one though!! In fact if you can get ten out of 180 without research you are doing well! Rembemer USA citizens this is for school pupils!! |

Gonna have to work to change that... Bobert and I think alike... Double Damn! Gonna have to change that!!! And Chamrion... you should have consulted your husband...;} And if you look at the total results of the quiz, the mode occurs at 21 correct, with a classic bell curve running from 14 right to 30 right answers. Not bad, and far better than those street quizes they give people in New York... |
05 Jan 06 - 07:28 PM (#1642425) Subject: RE: BS: USA History Quiz From: Les from Hull The thought of a similar UK quiz fills me with horror. I just finished my homeschooling duties for the day, and my mind is mush (and my stepson's mind is mushier). -Joe Offer- |
