See mini-fundraiser in the auction

Check out the notecards in the auction. I'm doing a mini-fundraiser for Mudcat, making notecards featuring garden images. Details and some of the images are shown over in the auction. (The small images will give you an idea, but lack the detail and vibrancy of the larger images that you will see on the cards themselves.)

They look wonderful, Janie. Suitable to dash off a quick note to a friend, or present a set of them to a friend for their own use. Either way, gorgeous!

Folks, I'm here to tell you that Janie's cards are gorgeous. I opened my package in the presence of a man friend- and he said, 'Those cards are pretty. Wish I'd have such luck.'

I turned a card over and sure enough, it was Janie who had taken the pictures. I'm SO impressed. The flowers are lush and vibrant and sharp and the veranda showing in the back of some of them make the whole scene the stuff of story.

I have six different scenes and I can't even choose a favorite. They are distinctively themselves. Maybe the one with the birdbath in the distance, - but only because I seem to see strawhatted women and men strolling around. Or maybe the mistiness of the purple and yellow flowers. But I especially also like the pinks and greens dotted with bright red. Or maybe the clean lines of the clay potted flowers on the brick steps.

The only thing that I would suggest, Janie, unless it makes just too much work, is to name each scene. I don't mean listing the flowers, but to give an impressionistic name to each one.

By the way, do you have seasons beyond spring? I'll bid on some autumn ones if you do. Those would be for me and my own use. I'll also bid on others for gifts. My brother's widow, Sue, recently remarried and she loves flowers. She won't find any like these anywhere else.

Wow, Ebbie!. Thanks for the splendid endorsement!

I'm not sure exactly which photos I used for the cards I sent you, but most of the photos were taken high to late summer and fall. The daffodils and the vignette of shades of purple and green were taken in spring. The landscape with the birdbath was high summer as were the dahlia close-ups. The "blue and gold" are goldenrod and perennial ageritum (sp.?)and were taken in early fall. And the pots of pansies were taken in mid-fall. If I sent you one with lots of 'single apricot' mums blooming, that one is late fall. I have some other photos that are clearly fall. They are framed well, but the light is less than perfect. I could probably 'tweak' them some. They are mostly landscapes of my "wild" garden with lots of goldenrod, bidens and tartarian asters.

I suppose I could have pm'd you with this info., but it is a good excuse to refresh the thread;>)

When she told me she was doing 'picture cards' for people for Christmas, I thought Janie meant a photo with a message. What I recieved was a big 'ol stack of cards that were gorgeous garden photos on the outside and BLANK on the inside for ME to send to other people. What a great idea! These would be a treasure even if I didn't already know the photographer and the flowers; they're that pretty. But, you'll see when the photos go up.

Now you can have some, too!

Don't miss this opportunity to have something lovely for yourself, or a gift, and support the Mudcat at the same time.

Bid with your heart, not with your head, I always say.

People - if you haven't been into the auction to take a gander at these I suggest that you do so - some samples have been posted and I certainly feel it is money well spent -

Got about half of the 100 printed now. 13 different cards--will probably end up with a selection of 15 to 20....

Have received orders for 25. 75 to go. An assortment of these cards will make nice small personal gifts for birthdays, a hostess, a thank you or even Valentine's Day. The envelopes will be encircled with a 'purty' ribbon or rafia.

Bit of a blip in getting the first ones mailed out-----looking for lightweight but rigid packaging materials. But Sins, MMario and Kat, they are printed, folded, sorted and ready to go in the mail otherwise.

People - If you don't take advantage of this to get High Quality Designer stationary at rock bottom pricing you are insane! These easily match the stuff selling for $4 and $5 each in the little artsy tourist traps stationary stores in tourist areas.

I just got mine today and they are BEAUTIFUL! Well worth the price and more! AND the profits go to Mudcat! Definitely a win-win situation.

Thanks, Janie!
