Came across THIS in/on MSN's money-investments-stocks site doing a random search on a completely different topic related to guitar values.

Don't know that I have the "blue clicky" thing down, so if this doesn't show up as a link, copy and paste into your address box. Fascinating read.

(P.S.-I did try a search, but the search timed out, so I don't know if it's been hashed over-if so, sorry y'all. If not, ya might wanna read it as you may have a goldmine someplace-or gotton rid of one!!)

Thanx Amos. Tried it-thought I had it--guess not. Thought maybe 'cause it was linked to another site...oh well. It works.

Musical Instruments are made to play music on . not as Investment items - Apart from which , if an instrument ISNT played fairly regularly surely it deteriorates ??

May a plague of termites and carpenter ants come to inhabit all the mahagony and brazilian rosewood these non-playing "investers" have locked away, and may it turn their portfolios into dust.

Guitars are made to be played. And scratched and dinged and worn. When used properly they should be a way to touch our souls rather than a means for us to sell our souls.

As Bruce so eloquently put it in a different thread, may they all "Eat shit, and Die."

Best investment they could make is to buy decent guitars for kids who can't afford 'em, and get them a years worth of lessons.

If I see a guitar or banjo with lots of wear & tear I know that it has been used, and probably loved. This is the purpose of musical instruments and any one who locks them away should be permanently deafened

But luthiers want you to buy or they dont eat.

What's the point of buying something that doesnt work anyway, you might as well invest so as you can get your money back if you want to.

makes sense to buy quality at a price you can afford.

Its like the mentality thats saying 'why have 2 or more guitars, you can only play one at a time?'

Luthiers like the craftsmen/artiste they are, surely welcome all forms of patronage, so go on you know you'll be supporting a decent form of talent.
