From: Ebbie Just in case- Terry Schiavo was a Florida woman who had been in a vegetative state for 15 years before they finally disconnected the feeding tube and let her system die. Her husband had battled for years to allow it, her parents had gone to court numerous times to block it, believing that she was aware of them and responded to them. Eventually, the right wing Republicans became involved, and then the Governor of Florida and then the US legislature and the Governor's brother, the president of the United States. However, the courts finally prevailed and she was disconnected. After her death, autopsy revealed that her brain was a liquid mess with no hope of recovery. |

From: Jim Dixon OK, now that you reminded me, I DO remember who Terry Schiavo was, and I did pay a lot of attention to the story when it was current, because of the legal and moral issues involved--then her name apparently faded from my brain after the story was no longer in the headlines. In my opinion, though, that doesn't justify anyone having any interest in her hospital gown. |
