31 Jan 06 - 08:52 PM (#1658540) Subject: Mudcat availability From: Paul Mills If there has been a thread about this before, please forgive me. I searched and couln't find one. I've been checking into the "cat" more than usual lately because of my CD release thread and have to report that most of my attempts have failed. Also sometimes when I do get into the forum page, I can't log into any threads. Are others experiencing this same frustration? Is it me or the Mudcat server? If the latter, is this something money can solve? If money can solve it, I'm sure the collective resources of this community could more than do the job. I stand ready with checkbook open to contribute my share of whatever it takes. Cheers, Paul PS submitting this message took several attempts! |
31 Jan 06 - 09:19 PM (#1658551) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: bobad Yes, there have been numerous threads about this situation and I am having the same difficulties that you describe as, I am sure, many others are as well. Most of the problems, we are told, stem from THE BIG CRASH of last summer and legions of computer nerds are working diligently to rectify the situation. Stay tuned. |

31 Jan 06 - 09:47 PM (#1658581) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Cluin As has been pointed out before, Mudcat goes down more often than a Saturday night whore. It's nothing new, Paul. We've all come to expect it. |
31 Jan 06 - 09:51 PM (#1658584) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: GUEST,David Ingerson who has apparently lost his c I have seen the money issue come up before. If money is a problem I'd like to see some sort of notice about what is needed or desired (or both) and a method of reporting about how much is coming in. I have thought about sending some money in several times before but just haven't gotten around to it. I imagine there are others in the same position. Make it a little easier for us to contribute and I'll bet a lot more money comes in. I'd like to pay my share. David |
31 Jan 06 - 09:56 PM (#1658597) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Paul Mills Why would you pay nothing, Martin? This is a community and the cat is an important conduit of communication for this community. It's not like it's run for profit. It's all volunteer, right? It's costing somebody real cash and if a little more cash will help clear up the problems then I, for one am willing to donate. Am I missing something here? Paul |
31 Jan 06 - 10:07 PM (#1658612) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Cluin The money-for-Mudcat issue has come up many times before, Paul. It's a sore spot with some. Here's one of the many threads it's been discussed on. |
31 Jan 06 - 10:18 PM (#1658628) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Once Famous I cannot support a community financially that has so much hard core left-wing fanaticism. It's like PBS. It's there and I'll use it when I want to. I don't send them money either. |
01 Feb 06 - 01:12 AM (#1658733) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Paul Mills I've tried responding to this three times and hopefully this time I'll get through! Martin, I suspect you are the exception here. I would like to think that most 'catters are less self-centered than you and more willing to contribute to the common good. I'm curious as to why Max hasn't chimed in on any of the threads about this issue. Paul |
01 Feb 06 - 01:16 AM (#1658736) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: Max I've been working very hard these last couple of weeks to resolve these issues. I'm affraid I've had to take a few steps back to move forward. We have a new server, a new router and a new ADSL router as of tonight. There are obviously going to be some glitches with all the new stuff going on, but it's a step in the right direction. Cross you fingers, and so will I. |

01 Feb 06 - 01:39 AM (#1658744) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: GUEST,An observer Some might see Martin Gibson's position here as yet further evidence of the theory that he is a construct intended to give support to anti-semitism. |

01 Feb 06 - 05:01 AM (#1658822) Subject: RE: Mudcat availability From: GUEST I have know a few Jews in my time and I can say there is no difference between those I have had the pleasure of knowing and other people of whatever persuasion, but, let us be sure of one thing they would be sickened to the pit of their stomachs if they ever learned that Martin Gibson was trying to champion their cause. There has never been anyone more racialist on this Site than MG, the reply above is an indication of how vindictive he can be on any subject. Personally I would like to see MG do me, and I am sure many others a big favour and depart to other regions. Good luck Max and many thanks for a great Site from an occasional visitor. |
