Isaac Guillory Tuning Question

Subject: Isaac Guillory-Tuning Question
From: Auggie

Can anybody tell me what tuning Isaac Guillory is in when he covers the old Merle Travis song 16 Tons (off the CD "Slow Down")?

I've enjoyed Isaac's music since back in the 60's when he lived stateside and played bass and rhythm in the Chicago area band "The Cryan Shames". Over the years he developed into a true guitar player's guitarist, and seemed to be a decent and certainly approachable guy, who left us way too soon.

Anyway, if anybody can help, Thanks...

Tune the bass string down until you get the low note matched with Isaac. That's 3 frets down. That's it.

Oooh...I feel so important, especially for a guy who's just lazing about the house while home sick. A response from the man at Anetstation, George himself. Thank you, sir. I really appreciate it.

George has a great, nearly 6 minute long video of Isaac on his web site. If you hit the blue clicky thing below and then click on Home on the left side of the page, it should take you to the video. The rest of the web site is full of other pretty interesting artists as well.

When I get the song figured out, I'll play it on the beach too.
Thanks again

To GUEST: Isaac played Wayfaring Stranger in Drop D.

DADGBD (low to high)

Good luck (you'll need it) with emulating his version, if that is what you wish to do.

Hi ...3 frets down??I don't think so...How about 2 frets down in Dropped D tuning and Murray McLeod is right...Wayfaring Stranger has the 1st and 6th strings lowered to D....Wayfaring Stranger is actually easy to play ..its just a matter of finding a transcription.....16 Tons however is a different proposition...

Guest...I have Wayfaring transcribed and 16 tons 1/2 done written in Tabledit ...Which means you can download the FREE Tefview and it shows and plays the transcription ....Of course I need an address to send to if indeed you are interested...........And George if you are there ...I could get even better transcriptions if I could get better video Quality ????? I often wonder if you are still intending to put the concert on DVD and what the quality is like...I had my transcription of"The Blues is Just a Bad Dream/Swinging little Guitar Man" on Youtube for a while but took it off ..Its one of my best ....HK
