Origins: Carrighfergus

Subject: Origins: Where is Carrighfergus?

I know this song is a version of "The Water is Wide", but I was wondering where the places of the song were?

I found Kilkenny when I looked on a map of Ireland, but wondered where Carrighfergus and Ballygrant were, as I could not find them on a map, and only found lyrics on a Google search.

We have already discussed this at length on another thread. You may not have found it because of the spelling: Carrickfergus. The whole issue is intriguing, and the tune is haunting and beautiful.
