I'm looking for the words to Grit Laskin's song about being in love in Paris. I think One Sunday Night is the title. I have the album, but it's buried under construction debris at the moment.

Hi, balladeer - I changed the thread title so it's more specific. Your "Lyric Required" might be confusing. I found out the song is on Laskin's A Few Simple Words album, but his Website doesn't give lyrics for that one.

I listened to the sound sample at CDNOW and was able to transcribe this much of the lyrics:

"… in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy.
Oh, I now understand that each squiggle and square
Has a genius's reasons for why it is there.
Surely art…"

However, putting these words into Google came up with nothing.

ONE SUNDAY NIGHT                         Grit (William) Laskin

Oh the gardens at Giverny were a beauteous thing
And Monet’s cool ‘Lilies’ made my heart sing
But though his impressions would try as they might
They paled to my own on that Sunday night

One Sunday night in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy

Oh I now understand that each squiggle and square
Has a genius’s reasons for why it is there
Sure the art of Picasso has beauty all right
It couldn’t match yours on that Sunday night

One Sunday night in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy

Oh we saw the Sunflowers that captured VanGogh
With colours made vivid by the bright Provence glow
Their yellows were burning with stolen sunlight
And still you shon brighter on that Sunday night

One Sunday night in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy

Now we saw Eiffel’s tower light up the dark sky
We let Haussman’s Opera bedazzle our eye
Though we’d ageless beauty to our left and our right
It faded around us on that Sunday night

One Sunday night in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy

Instrumental

One Sunday night in the city of light
When our laughter was free and easy
