Great photo. I would love to see one flying free and not in zoological gardens as in the past. Maybe one day I will get to a place where I can realise it as one of my many ambitions. Thanks and Best wishes, Mike.

Thank you for the link, AKS. It comes as a sad surprise to me that Finland does not protect its raptors.

Saw a pair of them flying next to the rocks on the Isle of Skye, what a sight.

For you eagle fans, I've just found a streaming Webcam (you can see her feathers blow in the breeze!) of a nesting bald eagle on Hornby Island in British Columbia here. You have to wait through a commercial first...not sure if there's sound on the commercial as my office PC is muted to avoid embarrassment; if you're in similar straits you might want to turn off your sound too, just in case.

Enjoy!

There is LOUD sound in the ad - great video afterwards. There's more info on Rapaire's thread
Live nesting bald eagles feed! from a few days back.

refresh
Aino & Väinö have it ok, whereas Weera (nest 2) does not seem to have found a mate, unfortunately.

AKS

ps to leeneia: Finland does, unfortunately there still are persons who do not!

I wish every one of you had the opportunity to see the eagles here in Alaska. I was in Kodiak in March and there must have been 2 or 3 hundred Bald Eagles soaring overhead and landing 20 feet away from me as I was working at one of the fish canneries. There were Killer Whales cruising through the narrow straight no more than 100 feet from where I was standing. I nearly tripped over a fox one morning as I walked from my room to breakfast. Its true that the weather up here sometimes is pretty fierce, but I wouldn't trade my home for anywhere else in the world.

Refresh; after some dramatic moments (read 'news of nest' section for details) back in May, the eglets are doing quite well now...
