My Mother is always singing this song and we have been searching for years for it. Finally found a version on I-Tunes, and the only difference is the first line in the song. The song says "Lastnight as I stood on a station platform", where as my Mum's version is "Lastnight as I stood on the Banks of the Boyne". The rest of the song is the same as the above versions. She is from Lahinch in Co Clare, Ireland. Hope this is helpful! |

Dad was the only person we ever knew sang it, so beautifully too. I know he said he learned it from an old man who used to visit their home when he was a boy.Miss Dad so much. and yet I was lucky to have my Dad for so long. Dad was 85 when he passed. I feel he is still singing his song. |
