Wombat Poorly

11 May 06 - 05:45 AM (#1737845)
Subject: Wombat Poorly
From: GUEST,Raggytash

My little Wombat has been in hospital since Saturday with a undiagnosed condition. Various suggestions have been put forward the latest being a mild (bacterial) form of Meningitis or possibly Encephalitis or possibly even galloping lurgy. she is getting serious cheesed off and a few words from you good people may brighten her spirits a tad. Yet another consultant is due to see her today so watch this space ...........

Cheers

Raggytash

Sorry to hear that Raggy, hope there is an improvement very soon, andd that Wombat regains her Joie de Vivre (thats your actual French)and general good health quickly get some Musiic in there, i found , when I was hospitaiized a few years ago that it was only the music made it bearable (and frequent cups of tea)

Nick,
Have you ever thought that all manner of diseases will be living in that shrubbery above your top lip??? Shave it off now, and I bet Wombat and most of Huddersfield will recover overnight!

Well I woke up on Sunday morning shiverring violently for a couple of hours without apparently having a temperature, which kept me off work 'til yesterday, but I wouldn't expect to have caught it from her at a distance of six feet on friday night (we were on the other side of the entrance doors to the sing-around).

Hope she's better soon.

and a wombat crossing sign

perhaps this will require a tasmanian doctor to diagnose her properly

i have been in an organization called the WOMBATS which stands for
the Women's Mountain Bike and Tea Society.

i hope she is feeling better soon.

Ya' know Rag, I have had a lot of time with Docs over the past ten years and I have begun to fear that "Ologist" thing. At various times I have had a proctologist, a urologist, and a gastro-enterologist, all of whom wanted to look up my ass right away! Based on my experience, I'd tell Wombat to watch her ass. Even a neurologist can probably think of some reason for you to take it in the end! My best to you both in any case!!!

(Actually, the dreaded lurgi is quite easily diagnosed in the early stages as the patient has a tendancy to shout out 'EE-YAKABOO' at regular intervals.)

Very pleased to report that Wombat has been released from incarceration at Huddersfield Royal and is soundly sleeping at home. Condition still undiagnosed ........erm Viral infection of the lining of the brain perhaps........ has even lessened my already fairly low opinion of some in the medical profession. Off work for at least another week and still can't walk straight, but at least she is home.
Thanks to those of you who wrote kind notes, they cheere Wombat up considerably when I took them in the hospital last week

Cheers

Nick

Sad to report that Wombat has been re-admitted to hospital, she took ill again whilst "recuperating" at our caravan in Whitby, she is now ensconced in Scarborough General Hospital awaiting further tests and an MRI scan to try and diagnose what is wrong with her

Two week without a diagnosis, then a return to the hospital is not good for a Wombat who is feeling poorly.

Tell her to knock it off and get outa there. That'll do it.

Hospitals are really bad places. You have to associate with a bunch of sick people, they wake you up at ungodly hours, give you terrible clothes, stick you with needles, feed you bad food, usually don't provide beer, and then they charge you a lot of money.

Tell her to get outa there right away.

Sorry I didn't look in here sooner, Raggy. Please pass on my good wishes for an end to the mystery and speedy easy recovery from whatever it is.

Spaw's advice was spot on, too! Last year, before they would do heart surgery, they had to satisfy themselves that I wasn't bleeding internally, somewhere. Over five months, I had every kind of poke and prod you can think of with no answers, except "No, not that...next?!" Eventually, they decided everything was okay for surgery and away we went.

All the best to you both,

kat

I saw Raggytash in Whitby on Wednesday Night at The Whitby Folk Club (It was Liam Haywoods 16th Birthday). Raggytash did not look at all happy. Hopfully things are on the mend for Wombat and Raggytash is just off line due to being in Whitby.

After screaming at our GP twice this week Wombat has finally seen a Neurology specialist at the hospital. Although not recovered at least she is happier with the information she was given and is a little more relaxed with the situation. She has been told the condition may last for some time but there is light at the end of the tunnel. More rest and relaxation is required and work is still out of the question for the immediate future (some may welcome this Wombat doesn't)
Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement, they have helped us along the way

Cheers

Nick

At least you now know a bit better where you are coming from and going to. Just do the best you can to relax Christine - hard though this may be for a workaholic. Shall I order you lots of warm weather for Whitby?
